IHGS was named a National Blue Ribbon school today! Congratulations to our entire Sea Devil community! Don’t forget to wear blue tomorrow to celebrate this accomplishment.

Class of 2020, a donation to @OceanofLove1709 has officially been made in your name. You collected and raised a grand total of $487! We appreciate your hard work and generosity, and know our friends at Ocean of Love will do great things in our community with those funds. 💕

Clap Out: ✅ Thanks to all of the IH residents who helped us bid farewell to our 6th grade class.

6th Grade: We’ll see you Monday night for promotion!

6th grade collected the most items for the food bank this year and won the walking trip to Rich’s Ice Cream. Since we couldn’t bring them to Rich’s, we brought Rich’s to them with a few other goodies! We LOVED seeing all of you (from a distance).

6th Grade Families: Save the Date! This event will only be open to 6th grade students and their immediate family members. However, the ceremony will be broadcast online for additional family and community members to watch. We are looking forward to celebrating with you!

IH Families: Each year the 6th grade students take one last walk through the halls of IHGS as their peers and teachers cheer them on. Please help us provide our current 6th grade class with that memory by standing outside your house and making as much noise as you can for them!

We raised $267.66 for @oceanoflove1709 through our Pie A Teacher Challenge!

[Jessica Christiansen @MissC_IHGS]

In honor of Pi Day, one of these teachers will take a pie to the face this Friday! Don’t forget to bring in coins to vote for which teacher should get pied! All proceeds benefit @OceanofLove1709

Team Wired competed at the FLL State Championship today and won the First Place Teamwork Award! There isn’t a better thing to be recognized for than being a good teammate! These students have worked incredibly hard and represented IHGS well today.

Students used Quiver (an augmented reality app) to review the parts of plant and animal cells. Students colored their cells and then scanned them to see an interactive 3D version.

Good luck to the students performing in “Beauty and the Beast” at CRHS tonight. You are all stars! 🌟

Happy 100th Day of School!
We reviewed order of operations and solved to see which equations equaled 100. We also estimated how many baskets we could make, jumping jacks we could do, and times we could say “centennial” in 100 seconds.

As a reminder, we are having a Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament during lunch on Friday to benefit @OceanofLove1709 $1 to enter. Winner gets a $25 gift card!

[Jessica Christiansen @MissC_IHGS]

For the first time, students from IHGS competed in an FLL qualifier today. We are extremely proud to announce that not only did they win the Project Award, they are also advancing to states! Congratulations, Team Wired!

[Jessica Christiansen @MissC_IHGS]

Thank you for having us! It’s a privilege for our students (and staff!) to be able to work with your organization. See you again soon!

[OceanofLove @OceanofLove1709]

@MissC_IHGS Thank you to the 6th grade class at Island Heights Elementary School for making Valentine crafts for our families. It was wonderful to have you visit us, and we all had so much fun! ❤️

Students are learning about Ancient Egypt in S.S., so we carried it over into science and learned about the process of mummification. We carved faces in apples and placed them in desiccants to remove the moisture and preserve them. Check back in a few weeks to see our mummies!

[Jessica Christiansen @MissC_IHGS]

It may have been chilly, but that didn’t stop us from caroling around town! Great job to all of the students and parents who were able to join us in spreading some cheer throughout our community! 🎶 ❄️
