Nation-states won't advertise this fact, but aside from the questionable ethics & violence of "modern" #warfare, it can be an unchecked cause of #ecological destruction & #pollution, often unaccounted for as part of national #fossilfuel#emissions quotas!

Cuba is out of fuel, strangled by the US fuel chokehold.
People are dying, systems are breaking down.
This is collective punishment against a people who have done absolutely nothing except live their lives under hard conditions imposed by the US blockade for decades.
It’s a blatant violation of international law, a crime in progress.
Canadians are connected to Cuba: we’ve been welcomed, had great holidays, heard incredible music, done business and made friends.
We need to help Cuba right now, even if it bothers Trump: Canada should send immediate humanitarian fuel aid, in as much quantity as we can quickly assemble.
And we should be speaking out loudly on the international stage: US military action against Cuba is absolutely unacceptable!
It’s time for the countries of the world to rally and stop this impunity before it takes another sovereign country into chaos.
We have to come to Cuba's aid. What's happening is too cruel, too horrible.
The Netherlands just put another $1.2 billion into its cycling infrastructure.
They aren't being generous, they're actually being cheap. National infrastructure projects of any size are legally required to undergo a cost-benefit analysis before they get built.
They ran the numbers on cycling and every dollar invested came back as roughly $8.90 in benefits: lives saved, healthcare costs avoided, quieter streets, cleaner air, less congestion. 6,500 fewer premature deaths a year, six more months of average life expectancy across the entire country.
A few years ago they were skeptical of a $17 million cycling bridge across the Maas River. They ran the analysis. The bridge was predicted to save $132 million over its lifetime, so they built it.
Most conversations about cycling infrastructure start with "how do we pay for it?" The Dutch conversation starts at "what's the cost-benefit ratio." That's the key difference.
The Netherlands isn't just subsidizing bicycles, it's refusing to waste money on the alternative.
Every time we see hundreds of bicycles outside a high school, we no longer despair for the human race.
To Dutch people, it barely registers. But this scene represents something profound: freedom and autonomy for young people—without the stress, cost, or danger of needing a car.
The most important thing about this amazing Paris transformation is how fast it happened —how fast people on bikes “appeared” —once streets were transformed. You can’t write this off as “#Paris was always this way,” because it wasn’t.
It took leadership.
'Don't blame having a child for the need to buy a car. Blame your city leaders for making it impossible to cycle safely with children.'

@King_Anticommie@LloydLegalist Substance abuse/rehab - driving a motor vehicle is questionable.
Family emergency, it's not lost on most of us that you don't drive carelessly and/or under emotional duress.

Half of all new vehicles are truck SUVs.
America's most popular vehicles are also the ones most likely to ruin the lives of people outside the vehicle.
As a fuel crisis triggered by the war in Iran drives up global fossil fuel prices, the Trump administration has announced it will pay French energy major TotalEnergies $1bn to kill plans to construct wind farms off the US east coast.

This is extremely significant. When we founded The Hague Group in Jan 2025, nine states stood together. Today, 40 states at our meeting on accountability.
It is clear: Only collective action can break the power of unilateral punishment meted to states that support Palestine.
We warned you: the wholesale destruction of Gaza was not an exception, it was a blueprint to crush anyone who opposes the plutocratic imperialism embodied by US/Israel and their global allies.
Act now: defend int'l law from lawlessness, before the rupture becomes irreversible.
As the world is distracted AGAIN by more war and manufactured despair, Israel is AGAIN deliberately starving Gaza.
Don’t be fooled: a so-called "board of peace" that presides over this level of suffering isn’t diplomacy; it’s a grim omen of the world to come, if we don’t stop it.
@grok@TheEvanCarroll@FSeifikaran@grok Could you provide online links to the verified footage and reports of explosions/fires from the ongoing US-Israeli airstrikes in Tehran?
@lamps_apple@OccupyDemocrats Sounds like passionate #AISlop above, reeking of mysogny, political bias & a misconception that other nations cannot thrive without some mafiosa protection under NATO.

BREAKING: Spanish Member of European Parliament Irene Montero TORCHES Trump for starting an illegal war with Iran and calls for Spain to leave NATO because it's "headed by Donald Trump" and being allies with the U.S. puts them in "serious danger."
Trump is unraveling the entire world...
"People don't have to pay for Trump's illegal invasions. We must prevent and limit the price of energy, food, and basic products right now, make public transportation free, and leave NATO because being allies of the US puts us in danger," stated Montero, who is domestically part of the left-wing Podemos party.
"We are in a critical situation, the government itself is recognizing that being an ally of the United States puts us in serious danger, because the United States and Israel are at this moment the main threats for the security and stability of humanity," she said.
"They are bombing the countries they want for oil, for the control of trade routes, for the control of geostrategic military positions, and therefore we tell the citizens that in our opinion it is still urgent to get out of NATO now, to not be part of this military alliance that Donald Trump has as chief," she went on.
"The United States is putting us in danger, it is turning us into a military objective and we also believe that the government has to act immediately to meet the price of energy, to meet the price of food, of first-need products, of medicines, in the face of a possible increase in those prices, and also to put all public transport completely free again to prevent and anticipate a difficult situation, and that of course Trump's invasions are not paid by the people," she added.
Regardless of what one thinks of NATO, it's hard to blame European countries for wanting to leave the alliance because of Trump. Being allied to a madman means that you are likely to inherit his insane wars. In the case of Iran, Trump attacked for no discernible reason in full violation of international law. Why would any sane country support that?
Spain has already refused to allow Trump to use its military bases for his fascist Iran war, forcing U.S. military aircraft out of the country. Trump responded by vowing to cut of "all" trade with Spain, an unhinged response that will only damage American consumers and hasten the dissolution of our historic alliances.
This war is going to be a historic disaster for the United States, the Middle East, and the entire world. Electing Donald Trump a second time was the gravest mistake this country has ever made.
Please ❤️ and share if you think that Trump is the worst president we've ever had!
