Sul Sul! And happy Halloween from your friendly neighborhood Sim! Really surprised half my students knew what I was. (I can change out the plumbob for yellow or red, too lol)
I absolutely LOVE teaching creative writing this year. My kiddos are some of the brightest I’ve ever worked with, and they’re the best way to end my day.
I had another teacher stop me to tell me he heard some of my seniors talking about The Metamorphosis, which I added back into the curriculum this year, & how much they like it & now I feel like I can retire bc I got senior boys to like a story enough to talk about it at football.
I am so lucky to have found a place at my new school district. I am so supported by admin, colleagues, and the community. I get to love being an educator again, and it feels amazing.
Very exciting news! As of the board meeting last night, I have officially accepted and been approved for my first contract position since I moved back to PA! I’ll be starting at Avonworth High School in August teaching English. So thrilled to have my own classroom again!
The last year of my career as an educator has been the most challenging one yet, and I’m very relieved to finally see things falling into place. Exciting news is coming!
Worked with a small group of seniors in math today -as I’ve said before math is my weakest subject but I’m learning it all to help them- and it was really successful! Proud of them and of myself for meeting this challenge head on.
My current position is prepping to take over for a special education teacher in March. She co-teaches three English classes and two math classes. Anyone who knows me knows that math is not my thing. Today, I successfully tutored a math student and I’m so proud of myself.
They spent most of my last day asking me questions about my engagement and talking to me about exciting things in their lives. Sometimes it’s okay to just take some time to build relationships with students and I wouldn’t have wanted anything else on our last day together.
Friday my first LTS position at West A ended and Tuesday I’ll move into my next one. I am SO SAD to leave my students even though I know I’ll still see them around. Absolutely some of the best kiddos I’ve ever taught.
Long term subbing after having my own classroom for five years feels like a step backwards sometimes but I also know it’s all part of the process, and being closer to my loved ones has been worth it.
Moving back to PA to teach has been so stressful and disheartening sometimes but I am always thankful to have a calling like education and I know that I’ll find my footing in a great school district soon.
@Dckns Thank you! Missing you all a ton, but ready for this new adventure and feeling really thankful to be closer to my family I hope you have an awesome school year! :)
@Dckns It’s a long term sub position for 10th grade (I believe) at a really cool school district. Some full time positions should be opening up soon and I would love to be able to slide into one :)
