@thjavabean2@MikeBales It's a little better if they ask you to share some boring fact about yourself, such as, "I eat my french fries without ketchup."
@dc2004@MikeBales If you absolutely must introduce yourselves, do not "share an interesting fact."
Instead, share a dull, boring, trivial thing about yourself, like "I don't like pumpkin pie."

@worillessg Unless the work is based on the author's life (LM Alcott, LI Wilder), I do.
I have read (and love) many books written by authors about whom I know nothing other than the name.
@teachthemx3@mackenzieprice I'd tell them, "Maybe you just haven't had a good math teacher yet."
Took the blame off themselves, and gave them a fresh chance to love math.
(I'd also say the same thing to the parents who told me they were never good at math themselves.)
@Pittsburgh1Pete I waited too long and my cat died in agony in my arms one night. Since then, the kind vet has helped two suffering pets cross the rainbow bridge (I was with them). Better a day early than an hour late.
@bannon1975 When I was a child, I loved reading books. As an adult, I still love reading books. But when I was a child, I did NOT like reading those SRA kit cards and answering the questions.
