A very special shout-out to Mrs. Dulude for being such a good sport and agreeing to play water war! Whitman is lucky to have a leader who jumps in with two feet into all things that support and excite our kids. Today was a great day to be a Wildcat♥️. #WhitmanSmilesAndShines
In September, my class set a few collective goals for IDR. One goal was to read over 750 books as a class. Well, several months and 800 books later, they surpassed their goal! Part of the goal setting had to do with water war as a reward. Not familiar with the game? You are now!
A beautiful night put together by a phenomenal art teacher! @MsStumpfsStudio you did it again! Thank you for making our school bright in so many ways! #WhitmanSmilesAndShines
Mrs. Dulude did a killer job as our Whitman “Celebrity Scooper”! She scooped Knox a cookie monster ice cream and River a classic cake batter! All of our wildcats were so excited to see her behind the counter! #WhitmanWildcats
Character Detective McDoot got hired by Tilly Pruitt to look into her 2 new house guests who arrived mysteriously by steamboat. Students completed Handout 19A by analyzing a scene with a detective’s eye to infer about the characters’ traits, feelings, & background @WitWisdomELA
5th grade enjoying the kickoff to Read Across America with DEAR time (drop everything and read)! “Books are uniquely portable magic.” And I will never stop spreading the magic of a good book ❤️ #ReadAcrossAmerica2023
Welcome to Starwriters Cafe! Where writers are stars & cups of compliments are shared! We published our end of module narratives and shared our “lost chapters” in a coffee shop atmosphere. Cheers to our narratives, the end of module, & positive feedback! @WitWisdomELA
Whenever an adult walks into our classroom, they have a chance to win my class a HW pass by making a basket.Officer Gar made this difficult shot today during DARE & I am so glad I recorded! The crowd went wild & all went home w/ a HW pass to save for a rainy day @WashingtonTwpPD
Happy 1,000th day of school to our 5th grade wildcats. Yes, you read that right, 1,000th!! Today, our fifth graders reflected on their educational journey, the memories they made, and the lessons they learned all while participating in 1,000 themed activities. #5thGrProud
Ellie was a ROCKSTAR today. She was one of our “book worm” award winners and gets to choose a book to purchase by me for our library. She gets first dibs of course!
The best quote of the day was, “can I bring my book w/ me to the BR so I don’t have to stop reading?” In which I replied, “why don’t you keep the book here.” The S replied, “nah, never mind… I’ll hold it.” Teacher friends, if that isn’t success I don’t know what is 🤣 #iykyk
2/2 We had different tracking methods, prizes for individual accomplishments & team successes, a designated drive-in reader area, campfire area, & a cozy holiday scene. We calculated our words read in 20 minutes which averaged around 5,000+ a student! We grew, we smiled, WE READ!
1/2 What started out as, “Miss Dott, what do you want for your birthday?” And my ELA teacher response of, “for you guys to read!” Turned into my first ever attempt @ hosting a Read-A-Thon. We had hidden golden tickets, snacks, prizes, awards, flexible seating, and challenges.
It is crazy to think this was just 72 days ago! This student was the first student to finish a book (actually 3) therefore he was the first to feed our reading robot a ping pong ball. Each book read is one ball into the stomach of our robot. We have now reached 300 books read!
A very special 5th grader is hosting a toy drive today until 12 at 407 Whitman Drive. Run, don’t walk to support the community and grab a cup of hot chocolate in return! Thank you, Jordan for being a model Wildcat and giving back to those in need. We are proud of you!
Thank you, veterans! We salute you, appreciate you, and are grateful for all of your sacrifices. We are working to instill thanks and an appreciation for all of those who serve our country. It starts in our schools and in our homes. (Video: Knox, age 3)
Ss were challenged to write a short spooky story on Halloween that created both tension & suspense. The second part of the challenge was that 4 rolls of a die would determine setting, characters, word choice, & the antagonist of the story. Don’t forget a flashlight for sharing!
When your students leave for specials, but you stumble upon this UNPROMPTED tableau of a conflict scene in “Thunder Rolling in the Mountains”. TRITM fans, can you guess the scene? Hint:The smiling orange eraser is handling (w/ tape) the 2 angry pink erasers horses. @WitWisdomELA
