Best way to teach Year 1 that it's a different time on the other side of the world? Talk to someone on the other side of the world! Love the way that tech can excite our learning ๐ Thanks for getting up a bit early in Canada, Lizi ๐จ๐ฆ @DaltonStMarys
โญ๏ธโญ๏ธMessy learning alert!โญ๏ธโญ๏ธ Year 2 know that our local beaches are great fun, but we've also been learning about the dangers. Yesterday, we got stuck in "quicksand" and learnt what to do if it ever happens for real. Thanks to Furness Coastguard for our wristbands and books ๐๐ป
A fun afternoon yesterday for DSM Environment Day - we made nettle tea! ๐ We learnt how to hold nettles safely, before foraging them from our school grounds and using a trangia to make them into a tasty brew. We quite liked it! #randomactsofwildness#GreenSchool
An amazing end to a hard-working term for Year 2 with a day with Ashley Wood, Head Chef at @AbbeyHouseHtl (and a very willing parent!). The children loved designing, baking and decorating their own delicious biscuits. Thank you so much to Ashley and the team for a super day ๐ช
Looking forward to another week by remembering our super start to our new Space topic on Thursday! Year 1 had so many questions that the planning went out the window and we wrote them all down, before acting out the orbits of the Earth and Moon. #getoutdoors#childledlearning
Year 1 had a fantastic day out in Ulverston today to support our Topic work on Sir John Barrow (even if it was a bit cloudy at the top!). Huge thanks to Dan from @GLArchaeology and John at the cottage and to Les at the #Hoad for their help. #reallifeexplorers
Year 1 have enjoyed lots of #handsonlearning in their recent Maths, Science and Topic work. We've been learning all about capacity and working out what explorers would need in the Arctic.
Year 1 and Year 2 both loved their den building morning with Year 5 today. Outside in the beautiful winter weather, demonstrating our teamwork, independence and resilience. What a great start to the week! #outdoorlearning
Yr 1 have continued their materials work by investigating waterproofing. How could they best protect their Smarties?! Cloth, paper, kitchen roll or cling film? So many great discussions! Thanks Mrs P & Mrs C. #handsonlearning#workingscientifically#managednottoeatallthesmarties
Today we received our friendship pens from our new friends in Year 6 - we love them! Thank you @LRobinsonDSM and all of Year 6 for our special acrostic poems. #forgingfriendships#christianvision
Weโve got two new friends in Year 1, so we held our own vote to choose their names. We all contributed our ideas, and then enjoyed casting our votes and popping them in the ballot (shoe) box. Results to be revealed tomorrow - suspense! #classvote#britishvalues#DSMtrailblazers
