I think being at a grammar school and being ‘bottom set’ for maths is something that really impacted this. I feel like the teachers loved the kids who found maths easy and had little time for those who needed a bit more guidance. I’d never want the kids I teach to feel that way.

10 years ago today, I hated maths. I was in bottom set and had no interest in learning or inspiration...

To now have a PGCE with maths specialism, be maths lead & being given so many opportunities is something I will always be grateful for.
