Those muppets on social media complaining about schools being closed in a 35 degree + heatwave and teachers having “even more days off” please do feel free to join the education sector. There is a huge retention problem at the moment and clearly you know best anyway! 🫵🏼🤬
This academic year has been a tough one. It’s just consisted of constant admin and very little focus on quality lessons. Especially with the RED, very hard to get the children to engage. I’ve not taught any Dharmic religions this year. Anyone else struggling?
Only one school I’ve worked at, has handled bullying incidents with the intent that it does not happen again, followed all safeguarding procedures, and there were big improvements in my lessons. The school was in a town outside of Birmingham…
I can’t speak about about any other city but after working in numerous schools across Birmingham. One thing that continues to infuriate me, is how bullying is handled in schools especially towards SEND pupils. So much is brushed under the rug as if it nothing.
In schools I worked at in central Birmingham, it was common for a pupil to call another pupil Autistic or retarded for getting an answer wrong or for doing a mistake in their work. It’s disgusting how Autism is used as a slur.
Today was horrific. I always teach the same class two different subjects for 3 hours every Monday. I wanted to bawl my eyes out at the end of the last lesson. The last time I felt like this was during my PGCE year.
