What is the Environment?
The environment encompasses everything around us, both living and non-living components. It includes:Living things (biotic): plants, animals, humans, microorganisms.
Non-living things (abiotic): soil, water, air, climate, sunlight, minerals.
Human-made elements: buildings, roads, technology, infrastructure.

The environment existed long before humans appeared and will continue to exist long after we are gone. However, human activities significantly influence its state, quality, and balance. It operates on a gabbage in gabbage out system, i.e. what you give to the environment is what you get out of it.
Example (a) Farmer Sows seed and the Land give bountiful harvest.
Example (b) Industry wrought oil spillage, plants, animals and micro organism dies.

Why is the Environment Important to Humans?

The environment is the foundation of human survival and development. It provides essential resources and services, including:Food (from crops, livestock, fisheries)
Water (for drinking, agriculture, industry)
Shelter and raw materials (timber, stones, metals)
Air (oxygen for breathing)
Clothing (natural fibers like cotton, wool)
Other resources for energy, medicine, recreation, and economic growth.
