We noticed that in the book Sunny brought with him, 'Meerkat Mail', both of the words start with an 'm'. We discussed alliteration and went on an alliteration hunt of our own. We found marvellous mushrooms, fantastic flowers, beautiful berries and even Sunny the super student.
Sunny was so impressed with Primary 2/3โs postcards that he decided to stay for a little while longer. After all, there is still lots of exciting learning to be a part of this term! ๐
We welcomed a special guest to our classroom this week. Sunny the Meerkat was on the hunt for a new adventure and Primary 2/3 did not disappoint! We can't wait to send postcards back to Sunny's mum and dad to let them know what he has been up to during his time at Holy Family.
Our bonfire night fun continued into our play time. Some pupils decided to make their own mini bonfires while others had a little play in the leaves as they were helping to clear the bonfire from our classroom. ๐
This afternoon, we collected leaves and sticks to help us make a bonfire. Back in class, we spoke about bonfire night safety and toasted some marshmallows. The pupils even broke out in spontaneous song! We finished our day by listening to a story around the campfire ๐ฅ.
Today, we explored even more of Scotland and itโs culture by taking part in some Scottish activities including Scottish country dancing, making tartan and creating our own unicorns (the national animal of Scotland) using lots of different resources.
Yesterday, we visited the first country on our tour of our classroom cultures; Scotland ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ We flew around the world visiting the continents before landing back in Scotland. We got our passports stamped and made it on time for a quick train ride around the Scottish cities. ๐
We just loved reading @MarcusRashfordโs โYou are a championโ and sharing why each of us is a champion in our own way. What a perfect end to a wonderful year with Primary 5/6 ๐๐
A smile can do a lot of good so be kind and smile at someone today, you never know what it might mean to them to see a friendly face #WorldKindnessDay#kindfest2020
We went outside this afternoon to create some outdoor art using what we could find in the playground. We discussed our pictures and voted for our favourite. The leaves were so beautiful that we decided we are going to collect them tomorrow and turn them into Autumn wreaths ๐
We were making the most of the wonderful sun this afternoonโ๏ธ We took our science outside and completed a microorganisms treasure hunt to learn all about bacteria, viruses and fungi and how they spread. We had lots of very cautious hand washers by the time we got back to class๐ฆ
Our โwhen itโs raining, look for rainbowsโ display has seemed very fitting the last couple of days! We used our pictures to discuss what we can do to make us feel better when we are feeling sad or nervous- just like how we can look for rainbows to brighten up a rainy day. ๐
What an amazing experience we had this morning watching the NHS Spitfire pass over the playground. Mrs Dalgleish even managed to capture these wonderful pictures โ๏ธ
Primary 5/6 loved resilience alphabet orienteering this afternoon. Using a map of the playground, they worked together to find the first 12 alphabet letters. We then used our plenary to discuss what each card meant. Thank you @MrsMBeggPE for the amazing resources!
One of our Home Learning tasks this week was to construct the rainbow model by @Finch_Fouracre. Love this finished example by one of the Primary 5s. What a lovely decoration to brighten up the windowsill. ๐
Help us to create an Easter hunt with a difference by downloading our colouring templates and putting them in your window for passers by to see.
If you donโt have a printer you can still take part by creating your own character.
