these attacks at taylor swift events are primarily planned to attack & hurt women specifically. we need to talk about how both suspects were boys under 20 & how the younger generation of boys are being violent against women. what were not going to do is blame taylor or islam.
I am SO PLEASED with paper 1. Thank you thank you AQA. Absolutely bursting with pride for my Y11s and also very impressed with my predictions this year!!!
Any Tory MP who says teachers going on strike is damaging to students. Let me tell you that 13 years of continually cutting school budgets is far far more damaging to students.
Has anyone used sections of Hallie Rubenhold’s The Five when teaching Industrial health for GCSE history? I listened to it as an audiobook and it sounds like it could be used, would be a massive time saver if someone has?
This is very telling. All Humanities subjects want to see a reduction in KS4 content, more than any other curriculum area, but in History, 95% of teachers think there's too much content at GCSE. Exam boards need to engage here. It is hard to develop skills with this much content.
Something I’ve noticed: covid lockdowns have had a massive impact on some year groups in terms of the learning of social skills and how friendships ‘work’. A very obvious thing to tweet, I know, but I’m wondering what schools are doing about it.
@AtkoHistory Hi, I have just come across this whilst searching for open evening ideas. Do you have a digital copy of the wheel I could pinch for our open evening? Thank you.
@HollyNiBhriain Glad to hear it’s the same even at a new school. I was wondering if it’ll be the same as my first year whenever I move on to another school
Everyone kept telling me my second year of teaching would be so much easier than the first but I didn’t realise just how much better it would be ?!?! Feeling soooo much happier this year
@helizrudd Glad to hear!! I’m a sensitive person and find it hard to brush it off when kids are mean, but last year has definitely given me a thicker skin and made me more confident
@CatPriggs @DavidJHibbert@nklrobinson A difficulty for me is that the partition is often taught whilst looking at the end of the British Empire and there’s a lack of understanding about the relationship between the different religious groups prior to Indian independence
@Missaahistory and I don’t know what to say when the students ask what they need to do to get level 4 other than repeating the generic mark scheme comments…
How can I get more training on marking (AQA history) I tried to apply to be an examiner before Christmas but they already had enough. Is there anything else on offer that anyone knows about?
@Missaahistory That’s so kind of you, thank you! I’m struggling with the difference between ‘complex’ and ‘developed.’ Will most likely come in time as I’m only in my first year, but I keep grading answers as mid level4 to be told it’s more like a high 3 if you have any examples of those?
