Reminder: if a person claiming to treat communication disorders or do speech therapy is not licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist by their state, they are not qualified and are practicing illegally. No other profession is qualified. There is no quick certificate program.
"To stay or to go" (NY) is vastly superior phrasing to "for here or to go" (nowheresville). Stay and go are natural opposites and we've got parallel structure with two infinitives. I don't understand how "for here" could have possibly even come about to begin with.
society is gaslighting kids into thinking that classic literature is boring
the #1 thing that makes a kid hate classic literature is not that it's boring
it's when a kid lacks the skills and knowledge to comprehend it
classic literature does not just mean old literature. it means literature that was so good that it stood the test of time and is still talked about today (the lindy effect)
@goodreads Why? For an emoji-riddled gush-fest that just regurgitates the synopsis? And then they give 5 stars because they got the book free and they want more free books.
Let's get this shit straight. Men didn't "give women their rights." Men forcibly deprive women of their natural rights as beings through systematic oppression due to womb envy. Women fought for their rights to be reinstated against men who enjoyed denying them (and still do).
A lot of the emails I get from founders are now written in a hard-hitting journalistic style. I know they're written by AI, because no founder ever wrote this way before. And once you realize something is written by AI, it's hard not to ignore it.
@tetheredtoed1 The bottom two are for the speech cloffice that used to be a janitor's closet but now houses the tech infrastructure because a whole table doesn't fit.
@KelseyTuoc It sounds crazy, but for some kids they really do benefit from 6-8 hours a day. The reason is that the core symptoms of autism mean they don't learn from their natural environment the way neurotypical kids do. Instead they need 1:1 support to learn language, play skills, etc.
I don't think that severely autistic kids benefit from 8hrs/day of intensive ABA therapy. I do think that *parents* of severely disabled children benefit a ton from respite care, but if you bill it as babysitting you can't bill $100/hour.
i had a student last year who did not know how to download a pdf from the course website and open it to read at a later time; thus he also did not know how to highlight and underline on said pdf. there's an actual crisis too few are willing to acknowledge, much less address.
@LaNoireDe I'd be surprised to find anyone thinks 20+ isn't doable. I have seen people claim to read 700+ and, I must say, that strikes me as strange, to say the least.
Actually, acknowledge that SLPs and OTs are superior to teachers in general. They know nothing and they get to just cherry pick which of our evidence-based recommendations they want to use or discard based on whims. Admin will always support the teacher, never the student.
Also, acknowledge that alternate route teachers are unprepared. As an SLP, I'm tired of having to take into consideration the opinion of someone who has no knowledge on which to base their opinion.
Amazing the people who say it's impossible to notice and remember plate numbers. The great divide is really between the good memories and the poor ones. (These were presumably in front of the same house with no front plate on either car.)
