Early this morning, an airstrike hit the road between the Lebanese and the Syrian border at Masnaa. Even when fleeing for their lives, Syrians and Lebanese are not allowed to feel safe. This is unacceptable. Fortunately, there were no civilian casualties this time. As the road is destroyed, some are now literally walking into Syria. I spoke to some of them a few minutes ago. They were terrified.

One million people are now displaced inside Lebanon.

Over 185,000 people have fled to Syria. Meanwhile, Israeli strikes target the road in the no-man's land at the key border crossing closing this route for vehicles.

I was part of the UNHCR team that helped build Jamjang camp. I also lived there in 2014.

It was never intended to host refugees 🔟years later fleeing one of the 🌍's largest displacement crises.

The Jamjang camps were established in 2013 for Sudanese refugees from the Nuba Mountains. Their hosts shared farming land. Now 12,000 new refugees fleeing the Sudan war have arrived — a testimony to South Sudan’s open border policy.
