#Year1 wrote some great information texts based on different mythical creatures. Having boxed up their ideas, they created some brilliant reports full of creativity and imagination and also did some lovely editing post hot writes! 🐉🦄📚 @Talk4Writing@PieCorbett#independent
@BriarHillSch The children loved unveiling the clues to see what followed next! Lots of lovely vocabulary already being generated to describe what they discovered too 😊 @Talk4Writing@PieCorbett
👣 It’s Hook Day for year 1! We’ve had a visit from a very suspicious character… He’s left behind a beanstalk, golden eggs, a hen and some huge footprints! He’s even asked us to make giant gruel! 🥣 I wonder who could have visited us this morning… 🌱✨ #JackAndTheBeanstalk
This week Y2 had a carousel of activities linked to the skills we have been learning in our Dribbling & Striking unit - we definitely have some budding footballers, hockey and tennis players in the making! ⚽️🏑🎾 @MAPrepSchool
Y2 were in disbelief entering the classroom this morning! Some mischievous gnomes caused chaos overnight - resulting in some brilliant diary entries about the events warming up for our Amber writes next week! 😱🧹 @MAPrepSchool
Happy #WorldBookDay from @MAPrepSchool 📚🤩 Our children had a fantastic day dressing up as their favourite characters, joining in fun activities across the school and sharing their beloved books. A celebration of the magic of reading! 🪄📖
Some of our year 2s had a lovely afternoon playing different games celebrating pancake day/Shrove Tuesday this week at Bethany Homestead - they loved having conversations with some of the residents and enjoying fun in the spring sunshine! 🥞☺️ @MAPrepSchool
Hello - I wrote a new blog about the teaching of whole class reading, which I haven't in a while. It's over 9000 words so quite a read, but I hope the comprehensive nature of it comes across as helpful, rather than patronising. Anyway - hope it's useful!

@MrBoothY6 Reminds me of when a younger child was mincing across the playground telling different people “I have different nests for different birds” I was admiring how profound she sounded until she turned her pockets out for the big reveal… 2 pockets with 2 live chicks🐣🫠
One of our fabulous pupils in Wiltshire Class did a great job joining others in KS1 at our christingle service at St. David’s church this morning! 😊 In other news, Elfis has entered the building and brought with him an advent calendar full of books for the class! @MAPrepSchool
As part of our ‘Living Things’ science unit, Y2 ventured outside to find different things in our playground that are either living, were once alive or have never been alive 🔎 Pupils found a range of objects and were very enthusiastic to share their findings! @MAPrepSchool
@MissAHadley We use washing lines to pop up learning in writing, maths working wall with current unit and then other subjects are just 2 pieces of pupil learning photocopied and they grow as the year goes on (with key vocab from widgit online for current units) 😊
Y2 had an exciting return to school, coming dressed as the animals we think our new model text may be about! After sharing ideas in a very animated discussion, we created our own unicorn masks, inspired by a text we will be text mapping tomorrow! 🦄🤩 @MAPrepSchool@Talk4Writing
We’re loving our first writing unit in Year 2! Today we completed our innovated stories and I was blown away by the ideas, enthusiasm (and writing stamina) everyone has displayed in our lessons! Now to find some space to hang another washing line! 😬 @MAPrepSchool@Talk4Writing
Popped in for a bit today and sorted out my classroom reading area - trying to bring all the cosy vibes to the back of my classroom! 🥰 #ks1#readingarea
What a fantastic experience for our children at @MAPrepSchool today! The whole school celebrated different cultures for One World Day and Badgers class loved all of the different sessions ran across the different classrooms today - so moving! 💙💛
