The Top 10 finalists of the Miss Namibia pageant paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of the Omaheke Region, Pijoo Nganate, as part of their ongoing 12-day regional tour.

Nganate officially welcomed the finalists to the region and shared insights into Omaheke's rich history, culture and identity. He explained the meaning behind the traditional dress, known as the horokhoes, noting that it symbolises “the drinking place of the elephants", while the orange colour represents the sands of the Kalahari Desert.

He further encouraged the finalists to dream big, believe in themselves and work hard towards achieving their goals and aspirations.

During the visit, the finalists also received gifts from the Gobabis Vocational Training Centre, Toyota Gobabis, and the Office of the Omaheke Governor to assist them during their tour of the region.

The familiarisation visit aims to expose the finalists to the heritage, traditions and diverse cultures of the Omaheke Region. Over the next 12 days, the contestants will engage with different communities and experience the unique people and cultures that make the region distinct.

After 35 years at NBC and four years with the Miss Namibia Organisation, Chief Executive Officer Umbi Karuaihe-Upi has announced her retirement.

In a heartfelt farewell on her social media post, she thanked Namibians, colleagues, and family for their support, saying, “I’m proud to leave an institution that is strong, relevant, and ready for the future.”

Karuaihe-Upi stressed the importance of ethical leadership and succession planning, assuring that the Miss Namibia Organisation remains in capable hands.

She also hinted at upcoming personal projects, promising updates on social media.
