North Carolina: schools will be required by law to use a phonics-based approach for teaching reading & teachers will receive training on the “science of reading".

@MissLapere Thank you, Linda. You are absolutely right. It is possible I just forgot being taught about phonics last year. I value the education I received at Strath. I am eager to continue to learn more about how phonics can be used to teach reading.
Tha an t-àm ann guthan dhaoine òga nar coimhearsnachd a thogail. Tha sinn airson 's gun cluinnear sinn. Bu chòir dhuinn cultar agus dualchas ar n-eilein a ghlèidheadh.

@SWLiteracy@SusanGodsland Absolutely! Yesterday a colleague cascaded learning from a phonics course she completed. It was eye opening. I am eager to fill the gaps in my own phonics knowledge so I can incorporate a phonics based approach into my Gaelic and English literacy lessons.
@LesleyHWaddell Thank you for your comment, Leslie. I never missed a literacy lecture, but perhaps phonics was covered by other lecturers. I can only speak about my own experience. I appreciate all your hard work and value my time spent at Strathclyde.
🎨 Over the last 3 weeks, Primary 4-7 Gaelic have been learning about the art of Steven Brown. They have created their own special McCoo's. Have a look at the progression of their art topic here, along with their amazing pieces of work! 👏

@ShonaMac24 Calling men out on misogynistic behaviour is just "going to make things worse"? Wow. Tha an dòigh smuain seo cho cunnartach, ach cho cumanta.
@Maigheach @blgtylr My brain hasn't unlearned this yet. I remember the day in high school my pal told me I need to add an extra space. This was corroborated by the school librarian. It is the one thing I regret learning.
@AnDeoraiRua Totally agree with this. I still use it for primary teaching as I know it helps pupils with ASD, but it is such a cringe every time. I sometimes use the Twinkl font as it's meant to be dyslexia friendly. Much more pleasing and keeps me sane.
