Imagine being told the wait for an NHS autism/ADHD assessment is 4 years.
So you empty your savings to go private because you can't put your life on hold.
Then you're told the NHS won't prescribe because the diagnosis wasn't theirs.
People are forced to go private, then punished for it.
That's not a healthcare system. That's a trap.
A panellist on Loose Women said that this time of year pupils are just watching videos.
This week, Year 10s had an intervention session on Moles. Year 8s were doing the structure of an atom. Year 7 are doing the greenhouse effect.
Not a single video watched.
We got rid of checkout staff at supermarkets, now you do it.
Prices went up
We got rid of films, music, game discs, now you own it as long as they let you
Prices went up.
Now AI is bringing the same, terrible services, no jobs
The only thing that goes up are their profits
Lots of Boomers seem to be remembering the summer of 1976 with rose tinted spectacles, & think that they ‘just got in with it’
Let’s have a look at what the newspapers of the day had to say in 1976….
🧵
As a teacher, this is what I want to say to SOME parents:
Stop making excuses for your kids. STOP IT. Teach them to earn things, not demand things. Hold them to a higher standard. Challenge them. That way, when I try to challenge them, they’ll know we both expect it.
Just a message to everyone telling young people to "toughen up" because you had it harder...
Fine. We'll cancel your winter fuel payments.
Toughen up. It's not that cold. Put a jumper on.
‘Schools are shutting because of the heat wave.’
Schools are shutting because incompetent successive Governments have not invested in infrastructure and fitted aircon therefore educational buildings are unfit for purpose.
@bphillipsonMP
Those muppets on social media complaining about schools being closed in a 35 degree + heatwave and teachers having “even more days off” please do feel free to join the education sector. There is a huge retention problem at the moment and clearly you know best anyway! 🫵🏼🤬
How it works is this: headteachers are legally responsible for the health and safety of their children and staff. We risk assess and act if necessary to maintain low risk .
It’s not done on a “whim”. Closing the school is far more work for the headteacher than keeping it open.
Some ppl have no idea what trying to manage 30+ teenagers enclosed in a classroom at 30 degrees + at about 2pm in the afternoon after they have already done a day of it is like. Try it yourself then do your 'teachers need to power up' routine.
Men don’t want abortion.
Men don’t want condoms.
Men don’t want vasectomies.
Men don’t want child support.
What they want is consequence-free access to women’s bodies.
Teachers need their summers off to emotionally recover from the school year. But that is the problem. Education shouldn’t be about bashing your head against the wall for 10 months, stressing, and crying, only for everything to be fine with two months off. It is possible to build a system that values the humanity of both students and staff. The current model is unsustainable and inhuman. Kids and adults shouldn’t be cooped up indoors all day. They shouldn’t be so stressed that learning is no longer enjoyable. Teachers certainly should not be paid just enough to survive while shackled to their jobs.
These videos should come with a public health warning. 🥱
Teacher numbers are down 1,900 since 2024, yet we're told the target is on track. More spin. More propaganda. Same failed promises.
