Did anyone dig into historical media about Auginish Alumina? There is some real eyebrow raisers 😳 The Irish Independent reported back in 2013 that a highly profitable Auginish Alumina paid just €1,952 in total corporation tax over 5 years despite €191 million in sales 🤔

Great reporting, as ever, by @ConorGallaghe_r@IrishTimes on ownership of Aughinish Alumina plant.
Like many EU states, Ireland spent most of the last two decades in denial about the nature/extent of the Russian presence in the country. We should have changed approach in 2022.
I asked a local councillor if the russian refinery here in Ireland should be sanctioned.
He said yes, if it was supplying Israel.
But Russia? No.
This is Ireland’s sanctions hypocrisy in 90 seconds.
For weeks, Irish politicians have dodged questions about the refinery in Ireland supplying Russia’s war machine.
So I tracked down government minister Niall Collins at a farming show.
He refuses to back sanctions & his stance was worse than I expected.
Avoidance.
According to Eurostat, Ireland accounted for roughly 94% of all EU exports of alumina to Russia in 2023 (€231 million), 98% in 2024 (€347 million), and 99% in 2025 (€316 million).

Ireland’s alleged “military neutrality” is a blatant lie.
In the first quarter of 2026, 83 percent of Ireland’s alumina exports went to Russia. This is not a “neutral” economic relationship; it is active complicity in a war of aggression against Ukraine.
The Irish government knows this full well. Investigations by The Irish Times, the OCCRP, and others have conclusively traced the supply chain all the way to Russian arms manufacturers.
Ireland—once a symbol of independence and moral clarity—has made itself Putin’s useful idiot.
While Ukrainian children die, the Irish elite counts profits and votes. This is not neutrality—it is cowardice, greed, and a betrayal of European values.
Figures provided by Aughinish to the Government as part of its lobbying campaign this week also appear to be misleading. The company said last year Russia accounted for 45% of its exports last year. Trade figures show that it was actually 65%.

Sen. Kelly: After 15 years working with Russian cosmonauts, I learned mission success was not their top priority.
First was how things looked, second was who to blame, third was what they could steal. Mission success was somewhere fourth on the list.
The 32-year-old Ukrainian pilot Timur Fatkullin is using his aerobatic training to take out Russian drones. “It’s air-to-air combat, almost like World War Two,” he told Ed Caesar. “It’s a dream job.” https://t.co/7XEqidhE1p
Ukrainian POW Oleksandr Hrytsiuk was returned weighing around 50 kilograms, covered in bruises, missing fingernails, with a broken nose after months of torture and starvation. There are hundreds of stories like these.
This is what Russian captivity means for Ukrainians
I don’t want to ever hear about corruption problems in Ukraine from Americans ever again
They have enormous corruption and aren’t even doing anything against it
