@Strickomaster I feel like my own philosophy around attendance shifted a lot during covid. I think the 100% attendance thing for me is like an elastic band that has snapped. But there's a big jump between not 100% and below 90%. At that point, we need to know whether ...
@Silver6pence@___batshitcrazy@RogersHistory Definitely NOT all secondary school teachers, but I went for a TeachFirst teach meet up thing in Manchester, and it was uncomfortable because they were all secondary teachers and this vibe was strong 🤣 I was really really surprised more than anything.
@RogersHistory For ref, I am primary based but did tutoring in secondaries as well. Nothing but sympathy for the kids who are clearly having a tough time, but I was also full of admiration for the teachers, doing heroic work trying to teach and be empathetic beyond what anyone could expect.
@RogersHistory Do you know, I have left teaching recently (but still such a teacher supporter), and I wonder if the teachers and students struggling with school are struggling with the same things? E.g. I struggled with the overfull curriculum with archaic elements in it.
@Toriaclaire Hey everyone at #TinyVoiceTalks!
Hope you're all having a wonderful week. Looking to connect, especially with people who have words of wisdom about juggling the education profession and family time!
@tin_teacher I saw someone else post that it was fewer than 5% of the teaching staff currently. It gives the impressive that tonnes of unqualified teachers are teaching!
@tin_teacher I mean, two months ago I would have thought that was kind of ok, but then I found out independent schools don't have to pay the mainstream pay scale and often don't. I had no idea, had just assumed they would get paid more! My main thing is... the problem wasn't pay for me!

@jour_debonheur@MrTs_NQTs Yes! Make it a place you send them to when they are managing large emotions and they start seeing it as a comforting place too, whether for escapism, regulation or reflection.
@PepsMccrea I have 2 opposite thoughts on this. 1. Interruptions drive me mad for this reason. Why are you sending people round with a missing coat in Maths? but 2. I feel like the biodiversity of a class has been stripped away in favour of productivity, losing some social and communal value
@cs_kube@TTRadioOfficial@mssfax Yes, I was told this too. It's kind of arrogant the amount of control we can assume we have over outcomes, and differentiation by outcome is such a great way to sometimes let them go and perform without you controlling so much!
