Students engaged in Visible Thinking Routines during quarter 2 (reading primary resources) to help guide their thinking process and encourage active participation.
The routines build metacognition, promote a culture of critical thinking, & foster communication in the classroom.
For this Classroom Close-Up we were invited to Dunya Sandiha's English Language Arts (ELA) class at Meads Mill Middle School. The students engaged in a Socratic Seminar to discuss the book they're reading: The Outsiders.

Another DC trip in the books. Highlights included the spy museum, karaoke on the bus, and a students vs chaperones soccer game at Wash. monument. Was also great to meet up with friends from DC, including former students that are now interning in DC/giving tours of the Capitol.
It has been a great morning around the district! We started at Meads Mill Middle School to present our Teacher of the Month award to Ms. Sandiha. Then, we traveled to Starkweather Academy in Plymouth to talk about state government with social studies classes.
Great visit to @MMPatriotPride@NorthvilleEDU this AM, Ms. Sandiha’s class reviewed books they thought would make good movies, explained why, and “cast” the film. I gave some feedback and this student liked it enough she wanted to share it with other classes:) #StayCurious
