Commissioner Khumalo has a rare gift, an ability to make people, both witnesses and lawyers, who are in a defensive mode, to sober up, let their guard down, hear him clearly, and end up conceding to whatever they were in denial of.

He comes with a soft tone, but hardline approach, to basically cut to the chase. As a Judge, if he were to become one, I know he has acted as one before, he would send people to prison very nicely, having made them to admit their sins and become remorseful in the process. 😅

Advocate Khan wanted to be given a chance to revise their Application for in camera hearing and submit the changes on Friday. Apparently in law, you can't do that. (I'll post a video where Commissioner Baloyi captures this well). They were advised to rather withdraw the motion and submit a fresh application. After a lengthy exchange with Chair and Commissioner Baloyi, this is how Com. Khumalo just wrapped it up nicely, softly, and boom, we were done! 😂 Hence I say this is truly a special gift.

BMA INTERCEPTS DRUG CONSIGNMENT WORTH NEARLY R1 BILLION AT BEITBRIDGE PORT OF ENTRY:

The Commissioner of the Border Management Authority (BMA), Dr Michael Masiapato, has commended border guards and law enforcement agencies following the successful interception of a massive drug consignment with an estimated street value of approximately R998,2 million at the Beitbridge Port of Entry.

On 27 May 2026, through an intelligence-driven operation coordinated by the BMA’s National Border Targeting Centre, border guards intercepted a truck travelling from Malawi into South Africa.

The truck was subjected to a non-intrusive inspection through the cargo scanner, during which suspicious substances were detected.

This prompted officials to conduct an extensive physical search of the truck, which lasted approximately eight hours.

During the operation, officials discovered a substance identified as methaqualone (ABBA), commonly used in the manufacturing of mandrax.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) K-9 Unit, together with the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), commonly known as the Hawks, were immediately activated to assist with processing the crime scene and further investigations.

Authorities confirmed that the truck was loaded with approximately 713 000 grams of the substance.

The estimated street value of the consignment is R998 200 000.

Three suspects were arrested during the operation and are currently detained at the Musina Police Station.

They are expected to appear in court soon on charges relating to drug trafficking and contravention of South African laws.

Investigations are currently underway to determine the intended destination of the substance and whether the syndicate forms part of a broader transnational criminal network operating within the region or globally.

Commissioner Masiapato stated that the interception demonstrates the effectiveness of intelligence-led border security operations and the importance of integrated collaboration among law enforcement agencies.

“This interception sends a strong message that South Africa’s borders are not a safe passage for organised criminal activities. The BMA remains committed to strengthening border security, combating transnational crime, and protecting the country from illicit activities that threaten our communities and economy,” said Commissioner Masiapato.

The BMA continues to enhance its operational capabilities through the use of advanced technology, intelligence coordination, and strategic partnerships to secure South Africa’s borders.

The Authority further commends all officials and stakeholders involved in the successful operation for their vigilance, professionalism, and commitment to safeguarding the country.

Yesterday, after the game at Etihad, they awarded Bernardo and John Stones a lifetime ticket to Man City games, amongst many other things.

On the red side of Manchester, Paul Scholes was complaining recently on a podcast that he was struggling to get a match ticket for a Man United game, this is a player who won dozens of titles at the club.

In this clip, they also honor a player who won the FA Cup for them 50 years ago.

Run it down to Kompany, to Fernandinho, to the new generation, Man City as a club know how to honor people. Give them that.

In fact, they missed honoring Ederson and Gundogan, guess what, they brought them back to the club yesterday, and the event today.

By Tuesday evening, temperatures in KwaZulu-Natal were starting to drop.

A welcome reprieve from the blazing heat.

The shift in weather patterns is always more pronounced in areas like Newark.

Wide open spaces, extensive greenery, fewer houses.

It’s mostly rural, and adjacent to the Tugela River.

It's one of those places that's easy to miss if you are not looking for it.

Much like Alan Monswamy's modest home.

Just off the R102, hidden from sight.

But, unfortunately, not to everyone.

Around 9pm that night, four young men silently approached the Monswamy residence.

It was familiar to at least one of them.

After all, Alan - who did maintenance work - was his employer.

He knew the Ford Ranger they would eventually steal.

He knew the layout of the property they would rob.

He knew the family they'd do unspeakable things to.

All seven relatives who'd later spend their final moments begging for mercy in a soggy, secluded bush, far away from home.

Under the cover of darkness, the men slithered into the fenced property.

So, I got to understand clearly the specific defined roles that Commissioners Baloyi and Khumalo play as Co-Commissioners, which explains their line of questioning whenever they probe the witness. It's not just asking for the sake of asking, they are fulfilling a specific mandate.

Commissioner Baloyi: Senior counsel assisting the Chairperson with legal analysis and recommendations.

Commissioner Khumalo: Assists the Commission with investigative inquiries and oversight of evidentiary processes.

So when Commissioner Baloyi says "Hang on, before you proceed, can I get this clear, can you please clarify, when you say..." "Can I put this proposition to you...", she's already analyzing the evidence you are presenting so that she and the other Commissioners can start thinking about the recommendations they are going to make about you and everything related to your evidence.

When Commissioner Khumalo says "go to Annexure B, page 185, paragraph 4, he is zooming into the actual evidence that the Investigators have come up with and the Evidence Leaders have packaged, which he oversees. So he's thourough like that so thst he doesn't leave any stone unturned. He closes the gaps, hence I've always called him the Striker at the goal posts after Commissioner Baloyi has passed her the ball. 😄

1️⃣ 𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗖𝗞 𝗦𝗨𝗕𝗦: When a player is taken off, he has 10 seconds to leave the pitch. If they take longer, their replacement will have to wait one minute before entering, leaving his team with one fewer player.

2️⃣ 𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗢𝗪-𝗜𝗡𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗚𝗢𝗔𝗟 𝗞𝗜𝗖𝗞𝗦: Once a throw-in or goal kick takes place, a 5-second timer will be applied. If the player takes longer than 5 seconds, it will result in loss of possession.

3️⃣ 𝗠𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡: A player receiving medical attention on the field MUST LEAVE and WAIT one minute before returning on the pitch, unless the injury was caused by a foul sanctioned with a card.

4️⃣ 𝗩𝗔𝗥 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗔𝗡𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡: VAR will now be able to review second yellow cards that have lead to a red, as well as incorrectly awarded corner kicks.

5️⃣ 𝗖𝗔𝗣𝗧𝗔𝗜𝗡 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗥𝗘𝗙𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗦: Only the captain is allowed to request explanations from the referee, if the rest of the players talk to the referee surround the referee, they will be given a yellow card.
