How cool ... the first book vending machine in one of our Buffalo Public schools. Kids earn tokens and get a free book! Hey, authors, anyone want to help keep it filled? #kidsneedbooks
I’ve always loved books, so finding books to teach students about different traditions while also hopefully inspiring a love of literature is important to me as a future educator #SEDU271 @jcdempsey3
Tech is usually a great thing, but kids need to learn the right ways to use it and how to protect themselves on it. It’s important for parents AND teachers to know what students are doing on social media #SEDU271 @jcdempsey3
It is very important to remember that students bring their outside worries into the classroom and also important for them to know the classroom is a safe space for them to unload #SEDU271 @jcdempsey3
Lots of kids come to school with their invisible backpacks, weighted with struggles.
Stress, worry, fear, anxiety, trauma, lack of physical needs, loneliness, anger, sadness, & hopelessness can make them so heavy; too heavy for learning to happen.
Notice & love them instead.
Having diverse books in the classroom is so important! Students see themselves represented + and can help students in not so diverse areas learn about diversity! #SEDU271 @jcdempsey3
"Troubled by the lack of diversity in children’s books and the literacy gap involving kids around the country, a mom and her two kids have set out to send 50 diverse children’s books to each of the 50 states." https://t.co/D700paCGbU
@JoelleConklin @jcdempsey3 I can’t wait to read this later! I used to dread time tests more than anything and am glad there’s some research to show there are better approaches! #SEDU271
@EstokMs This is so cool! I know lots of kids into Minecraft, so this would be a good way to help keep them interested in what they're learning. Thanks for sharing!
This awesome website has free lesson plans created by other teachers for all subjects and grade levels https://t.co/AkOb5Jnpv7 #PSTPLN#SEDU183#sharemylesson
Hi! My name is Bailee Slike and I’m studying early childhood and special education at Edinboro University. I am excited to connect with other future educators and learn how to use tech in the classroom! #PSTPLN#SEDU183
