Having mental health problems and teaching - hardest job. You have to put the face on, you can’t hide at a desk or “pop out” or work from home. Kids will see straight away if you aren’t right so you either act or else. Overcoming that, over a long period, is strength.

Having a parent tell me at parents evening that I am doing a fantastic job because they overhear your lessons and are the reason her son is taking the subject has left me so happy (despite the other 29 parents meetings to go until 9pm)

@geogsparks Ask if they have any questions first as time is precious. If the student is present ask how they find it. Have one thing for each student you can praise and one thing you can say they need to work on. Ensure they’re no surprises for parents about behaviour! Tell them before!

Thinking ahead to September and the new year 7 cohort - they won't have had a full year of in class learning since year 4...secondary school is a big transition at the best of times, but this is going to be huge for them.

Year 12 have got a lot of case studies to learn for their migration topic. Does anyone have some creative ways of teaching them? I rely to much on ‘make notes on the case study using this structure’ 🦏
