Small taxi operators at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport are counting their losses after a new arrangement between the Airports Company of Zimbabwe (ACZ) and Paul Tungwarara’s Tap and Go service.

Some taxi operators claim their contracts were not renewed, their fleets were reduced, or they were pushed out of the airport market. CMED’s Easy Go service is also reportedly affected.

One operator said he had bought 12 vehicles for the business, but all are now parked at home after his contract was not renewed. Operators claim Tap and Go has a much larger fleet and offers different types of vehicles, making it difficult for smaller operators to compete.

The operators say the changes have caused them significant financial losses. However, the allegations could not be independently verified, and ACZ and Tungwarara had not responded to requests for comment.
