End of an era as PTPS at Braidhurst, as I clear my desk & wall.
Loved every minute of it, especially all of the brilliant staff and pupils I’ve had the pleasure of working with❤️💛🖤.

A Great Lesson – Principle 6: There are frequent checks for everyone’s understanding.
In great lessons, there are frequent checks for understanding as content is being taught. Importantly, these checks target everyone’s understanding, rather than just individuals or small groups of students. While sampling approaches have a place, more often than not, checks for understanding should be universal. In that respect, tools such as show-me boards (mini whiteboards) can be a teacher’s best friend. A question is asked and every student is expected to respond to this on their show-me board, holding this up for the teacher to see when told. Such approaches encourage all students to think, give everyone time to think and, crucially, make everyone’s thinking visible.

We had the privilege of engaging in a highly informative and productive day with @BruceNextLevel beginning with a comprehensive whole-staff session in the morning, followed by a focused afternoon workshop with the ELT team on advancing leadership in learning and teaching.
A super afternoon with middle and senior leaders at Caldervale High School, exploring principles and strategies to power up our leadership of teaching and learning.
✅ Professional reading
✅ Professional learning at the heart of departmental meetings
✅ Coaching approaches
A great morning with teachers at Caldervale High School, exploring principles and techniques to power up our pedagogy. For example:
➡️ We learn what we think about.
➡️ Being busy and learning are not the same thing.
➡️ Novices and experts think and learn differently.
The impact of a simple act of kindness is truly remarkable. Even the smallest gesture can light up someone’s entire day💛
