At UYDEL Masooli Centre, youth from Banda, Makindye, and Rubaga under the #EASYU25 project took the stage for a powerful SRHR debate on the motion:
“High-risk sexual behaviors are the leading causes of sexually transmitted diseases or infections among adolescents.”
This motion was carefully selected to enhance the dissemination of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) information and rights among slum youth, explore the health risks linked to sexual exploitation, and deepen their understanding of Uganda’s laws on sexual rights violations.
This was more than just a debate, it was a spark for transformation.
The young people exposed the real risks threatening their sexual and reproductive health:
🚩 Drug and alcohol use
🚩 Multiple sexual partners
🚩 Unprotected sex
🚩 Transactional sex
🚩 Fear of or failure to seek healthcare
Held in English and Luganda, the session gave every voice power, broke silence around taboo topics, and challenged harmful social norms that drive exploitation and disease.
More than just words, this was peer-led action. Young people emerged informed, empowered, and ready to challenge stigma, promote safer choices, and defend their rights.
A heartfelt thank you to our partners at Bread for the World for your continued support in empowering young people with knowledge, confidence, and platforms to lead change. Your commitment makes youth-led impact possible.

Dear bold and ambitious young ladies, I’m writing this to prepare you that, you will be called all sorts of names especially ‘a prostitute’ when you become successful. Even when a woman has a big role in the corporate world, the insecure men will say ‘she slept a way up there’. Men always use the word ‘prostitution’ to cover for their own insecurities, failures, laziness. You will never meet a successful and secure man calling a woman he has never ‘bought’ a prositute. Always keep your chin and head up. Most men dont love the idea of a successful woman. It messes up their ego.
Keep chasing your goals and dreams and never let words slow you down. Keep your eyes on the prize.
