Forth year teacher, second year in Year 6. Lover of history, reading and creative curriculum. Newly appointed head of reading for pleasure and libraries.
Finished trimming the tree today (after letting the pup get used to it for a week), and am now about to settle down to watch The Grinch with gingerbread hot chocolate and popcorn in my festive bowl! It’s finally Christmas! #DecktheHalls
Got through to the end of a very long term, and I’m so happy with what we’ve managed to achieve in Y6 so far. I’m excited for the new year, but for now, I’m just grateful to have a chance to catch up with sleep, family and friends (in that order!!) 💤💤
Been reading The Graveyard Book by @neilhimself to my class since September. Every time I have to stop there’s an audible groan; they are completely enthralled!
Hocus Pocus and hot chocolate after an afternoon of lesson planning. Might be getting to the end of half term but I’m still thoroughly enjoying the laid back pace.
After feeling like everything was getting a bit much during the last week of term, I’ve managed to switch off whilst pottery painting with Mum and then a lovely walk with my dog today. Now home to hot chocolate and a book! Feeling human again… thank goodness!
Had a great day at a SEND conference, focusing on communication and bringing families and children into the heart of decision making within SEND. I even got to do some painting as part of a workshop on play based sessions. A lovely way to end a Friday!
Feeling very autumnal this weekend. Got my blankets and big jumpers out; had a velvetiser hot chocolate and I have had a horrible head cold 😂 Nothing says autumn quite like dosing yourself up on Strepsils and Night Nurse 😂 #autumnvibes
I’ve been struggling a bit this week but I’m so grateful to have such an amazing team of people around me. From SLT to support staff, everyone has been supportive and helped me get through to the weekend. And I cannot express my gratitude enough!
Normally a Saturday morning would mean a lie-in and then cracking on with planning or marking but I’m going to start building in more time for me. So step aerobics it is! #teacherwellbeing
Day one done and dusted! Such a fantastic cohort this year with enthusiasm for learning and a love of books that rivals my own (and that’s saying something!). Excited to see what the next few weeks have in store! #BackToSchool#Year6
Had a great summer and made some fantastic memories over the past six weeks from weekends with friends to spending time with family. Now, I’m looking forward to getting back to school and having my first year in Year 6! #BackToSchool
@m1ssward@MrTs_NQTs The Trauma and Attachment Aware Classroom by Rebecca Brooks was really helpful with my last class. And The Whole Brained Child was a great source too 😊
Another school year done and dusted! Feeling so grateful for the thoughtful gifts and heartfelt cards from my class today and to have worked with so many very talented and lovely people this year. Mostly though, I’m thankful for the lie in I’ll have tomorrow morning!
Sports Day this afternoon and of course the heavens opened! And it was glorious sunshine this morning so I didn’t have a jacket… To say I was soaked would be an understatement! ☔️🌧 #sportsday#teacherlife
Another busy day of suspense story planning, mastery maths questions and researching pollination all before transition meetings. Think an ice-lolly in the garden is called for before I continue with my last few reports! #littlethings#teacherlife
