In SK/1, we concluded our Materials, Objects & Structures unit. They were challenged to create a stable structure 🏠with only one material for the three little pigs 🐖🐖🐖. The structures needed to be able to withstand the big bad wolf (hair dryer) 🐺

**NOTICE** Today the @ETFOeducators announced that its members will engage in a one-day strike at @HPEschools on Tuesday, January 28, 2020. As a result, students in JK-Grade 8 should not go to school on Tuesday, January 28, 2020. This strike does not affect students in Gr 9-12.

Love incorporating technology within the classroom ! I posted QR codes all around the classroom and in the hallway. When students scanned the QR code, it would prompt them with a question related to ratios. This was a fun and interactive lessons that got my students up and moving

I had my 7/8’s use the @getflipp to search through flyers for grocery items. Students had to find the listed price and determine what the unit rate is for each item on their grocery list! It is important to demonstrate to students how math can be useful in a real world context 💲

Great first day of teaching with my grade 7/8s. My students explored and identified ratios with the use of Fruit Loops cereal. This was a great hands on and edible activity to help students understand the difference between part to part and part to whole ratio #ratios @dsbn
