Join us, and @sinoistbooks, for a special online event on Mon 11th Nov, talking to author Fan Wu about her novel Souls Left Behind (trans. Honey Watson) and the role of the Chinese Labour Corps in the First World War. We'll also be joined by @GBLee and archivist John De Lucy.
Chinese ceramics at the British Museum, lunch in Chinatown and the apparently all-important Boba tea with the second half of our Chinese-learning Y7 students
Great to see our Y7 students practise their Mandarin in real life context in China town. Some of them even got free fortune cookies from the shop owners for their amazing Mandarin speaking skills!
Are your students curious about where a career in modern languages could take them? Or about the skills they could acquire? This infographic is a great way to encourage students to see the wider benefits of studying your subject.

For those who saw me walking around school yesterday and weren't familiar with this character from Journey to the West (one of the 四大名著, the Chinese Four Great Classic Novels), here's the Gorillaz version of 猪八戒 aka Pigsy). I heard a student comment 'that's commitment' 😁

Year 13 students learning about Henri IV, la reine Margot, Louis XIII, Victor Hugo and a bit of local Jewish history, walking around the Marais this morning @Miss_Lisney
@EmmaNicolaMFL In that case, I agree with what others have said re Stade de France, Musée d'Orsay and the Arc de Triomphe, but how about the Quai Branly museum for something a bit different? It's also an opportunity to talk about French colonialism etc.
@EmmaNicolaMFL PS if you scroll down my twitter feed you'll see Street Art photos from a walk around the Buttes aux Cailles last year, which I think the Year 12s quite enjoyed
@EmmaNicolaMFL Depends on the age group; the science museum is not so great for 6th form, for example. We've booked our first walking tour of the Marais for tomorrow morning, for a Year 13 trip... Watch this space!
