Some amazing project based learning taking place in my S3 History classes this week! Super impressed by all!
The students were investing the different areas of a slave plantation looking at role and experience of the slave owner, overseer and enslaved people.
We are delighted to announce that we have been recognised as a Vision School, Level 2! This is a result of our continued work on Holocaust and Citizenship Education. Miss Toner and her team are invited to the Scottish Parliament in February to formally accept the award 👏👏
‘That teacher wasn’t going to give up on me.’ #EducatingYorkshire
And, whilst grades matter, this is what matters most, fellow teachers. The belief in them carries them even further than the grade. Go, Ms Delaney.
After a very competitive process, we are delighted to share the news of our new school captains.
Our school captains will take on a variety of roles, representing our pupil population and driving forward our school values of Ambition, Respect and Equity!
Well done!
And just like that the shoebox trenches are back!
A fantastic way to bring learning to life and it is fair to say the S3 History students absolutely loved it 😊 @WCHSHumanities
We were delighted to be presented this morning with The Respect Me Reward, as a result of our work on anti-bullying ❤️ Another fantastic recognition of the hard work in delivering our core values at WCHS 🥳
My talented S2 pupils rose to the challenge of creating a pressure group to address a growing issue in Scotland. Drawing on their cross-curricular knowledge—from exploring MVP in Wellbeing to applying insights from Social Subjects—they produced a fantastic & impactful poster!
We are delighted to announce that we have today been accredited as a Silver Level Rights Respecting School! A tremendous achievement for our community and we now work towards our Gold recognition 👏 ♥️

They have absolutely loved learning about the route and the different stops across the 8 states 🇺🇸 @WCHSHumanities
We had a fantastic night at our inaugural Christmas Curry Cook Off! S6 pupils and staff coming together for good food and Christmas tunes! 🎄🧑🎄❤️😋 Huge thank you to Mr Mitchell and our school captain Sohan for providing the food 🙌
✨Work Spotlight✨
Absolutely outstanding work produced by one of my S2 students which documents the life of Anne Frank and the importance her diary plays in our understanding of how Jewish people were treated. This will definitely be going on this month’s wonder wall of work!
I'm so impressed by the incredible homework my S1 classes have produced this week! As part of their Scottish Geography unit, they created informative leaflets on a Scottish Munro of their choice. The level of effort in each project is truly outstanding.
Keep up the hard work!
WCHS has been recognised for our continued commitment to global citizenship by achieving The International School Award - Foundation Level! Huge well done to Mrs Rennie and her team for their hard work 👏 🌍
