The best thing about this BBC campaign is that it encourages you to look back on the original version from which it takes inspiration. The only trouble is, watching the original makes you realise how significant the decline is - not only at the Beeb, but in Britain more broadly.
Doctor Who, Jacob Rees-Mogg and his assistant Steve travel to Clacton in 2046, where the phallic-neck Daleks have seized power.
Their only hope? Return to 2026 and find Count Binface to take on Nigel Farage.

🇬🇧 THEY TOLD YOU A STORY. 🇬🇧
Colonisers. Slavers. Oppressors. And you were supposed to feel ashamed.
Not for what you done... But for WHO YOU ARE. 🇬🇧
So we tested it. Britain wrote everything down, so we opened the books. 📖
Turns out fewer than 1 man in 10 could vote in the year Britain banned the slave trade. No woman could. Your ancestors could hang for stealing a sheep, get shipped across the world for petty theft, or go down a mine at 8 years old. In Manchester, the average age of death in a labouring family was 17.
They weren't running the slave trade. They were underneath it too.
Which is what makes what happened next worth knowing.
In 1772 an enslaved man named James Somerset walked free from an English court, because English law couldn't hold a slave.
In 1791, 300,000 families just stopped buying slave sugar. No march, no riot, just a decision made at 300,000 kitchen tables.
In 1792, 519 petitions carrying 390,000 names hit Parliament, most signed by people who couldn't vote themselves.
In 1807, Britain banned the trade.
Then the slave owners sent Britain a bill for the 800,000 people they still held. 💷 £20 million. About 40% of the entire government budget at the time.
The Treasury says it wasn't paid off until 2015. So if your family paid British tax before then, they helped buy 800,000 people their freedom.
From 1808 the Royal Navy spent 60 years hunting slave ships at sea: 1,600 stopped, 150,000 people freed, and 1,600 British sailors dead, mostly of disease, buried thousands of miles from home. ⚓
In 1816 they ended two centuries of Barbary corsairs enslaving Europeans.
In 1896 a war that lasted 38 minutes ended slavery in Zanzibar. 🇹🇿
Almost every country on Earth outlaws slavery today.
That fight was paid for largely at British expense, by British hands.🇬🇧
So why haven't you heard any of this?
Because within living memory, someone rewrote the story. You got taught the crime. Not the cure.
The powerful exploited the world. They exploited their own people first. It was those people who ended slavery. 🇬🇧
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
History got rewritten once, in living memory, by no one who was ever named or held to account.
We are ordinary people doing what ordinary people have always done. Opening the books. Refusing to look away.
This is how we fight back. Fact by fact. Story by story. Name by name.
We are the home of British heroes. There is a place for you in it.

Every choice we’re making is part of a script written long ago. According to The Simpsons, England will be knocked out by Mexico, while Brazil will be sent home by Norway. What does that say about our reality?
A PUBLIC APOLOGY - I AM SO SORRY
I need to apologise to all the politicians who serve us with such great integrity.
I also need to apologise to all mainstream media outlets who keep us informed with 100% truth on a daily basis.
I need to apologise to all uber liberal and hard left activists who just want to make the world a better place for us all.
I want to apologise for imported engineers who get their cocks out in public and in front of 11 year old girls, that's totally my fault.
I want to apologise for imported engineers who savagely attempt to behead people in public, again, totally my fault, I own that.
I want to apologise for all the imported engineers who sexually molest women and children on the regular, that behaviour and that culture is 100% my fault.
I want to apologise for the 40,000 or so Muslims who are on the UK terror watch list, again, my bad, I hold my hands up.
I hope all you politicians, media outlets, and far left activists can find it in your gracious, kind hearts to forgive me.
Stop what you're doing, and watch this. I exposed the islamic takeover of Birmingham and it's much more insane than you can imagine.
"So you think everyone who cheats in the UK should be killed?"
"They shouldn't cheat."
They want sharia law and reveal their plan to me on how they intend to implement it. I went into the mosque where they teach sharia lectures including how to stone your wife to death and tax funded field trips from public schools are sent to this mosque, more than 40 in fact. This is part of a much larger report that is released on my YouTube.
Tommy Robinson says Starmer’s visa crackdown has 'exposed' the U.K. government 🇬🇧
As thousands of free speech advocates prepare for @TRobinsonNewEra's May 16 rally in London, the controversy has gone international. The U.K. government has revoked ETAs and blocked foreign politicians, activists and journalists from entering the country, arguing their presence would not be “conducive to the public good.”
One day before what is expected to be one of the largest political rallies in modern Britain, Tommy Robinson is accusing Keir Starmer’s government of using executive power to silence dissent.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s Unite the Kingdom rally, Robinson said the government’s decision to cancel visas and revoke ETAs for foreign speakers has revealed its real face.
“They’ve exposed themselves,” Robinson said. “They’ve not cancelled extremists. They’re cancelling journalists.”
According to Robinson, the government is targeting people “who have a different opinion” from its “mass open border, dangerous immigration” agenda. He pointed to foreign journalists, activists and “multiple members of the European Parliament” who have reportedly refused entry into the U.K.
“Whilst they’re stopping journalists… stopping politicians, our borders are open to rapists, criminals, jihadists,” he said.
Robinson says the move has backfired — exposing what he calls a government willing to silence critics while failing to confront mass immigration, grooming gangs and radical Islamism.
Authorities have framed the rally as a threat to public order, with Starmer’s Labour government saying it will block “far-right agitators” from entering Britain. Robinson rejected that language, saying the label no longer has the power it once did.
“Those words worked for them for 30 years,” he said. “It doesn’t work anymore. No one cares. People wear it now like a badge of honor.”
Robinson also accused police of applying a double standard on hate speech, saying authorities have allowed extremist pro-Hamas demonstrations for two years.
“They’ve allowed them to call for jihad,” he said. “They’ve allowed them to incite hate from one end of this country to the other, and they’ve done nothing.”
Despite the crackdown, Robinson believes the government’s actions will only increase turnout.
“Every move they make backfires and our numbers grow,” he said, predicting “the biggest gathering” Britain has seen.
“This Saturday,” Robinson added, “the country’s coming out — not in support of Keir Starmer, against him.”
