When Nafisa got married into the family, everybody believed she was too lucky.
Her husband, Idris, came from a respected Hausa family in Kano. Not extremely rich, but comfortable, disciplined, and known for good character. He owned a grains business with his older brothers and was the type of man elders used as an example during marriage talks.
Nafisa herself was beautiful, outspoken, and full of life. During the first year of marriage, people admired them together. They attended weddings side by side, visited relatives together, laughed loudly during family gatherings.
But slowly, small cracks started appearing.
Nafisa hated how quiet married life became after some time. Idris was a good man, yes, but predictable. Morning business, evening business, mosque then sleep. Same routine constantly. Meanwhile Nafisa wanted a life that felt bigger than daily cooking and waiting for a husband to return from work.
Then Idris’ cousin, Faisal, entered the picture more often.
As a lady, it never ends. Once money comes in, if you’re not buying haircare products, you’re buying skincare products, or replenishing your diet staples, wondering whether to get that two piece, those cute shoes, that perfume you’ve been wanting…I could go on and on.
Wallahi, you will regret it if you waste this Ramadan. These are precious & limited days. You never know if this is your final Ramadan. By next Ramadan, we will see posts saying. “They were with us last Ramadan, now they are no more.”
In 2023, during the cash scarcity, my dad was complaining about not having cash, so I decided to send him some money.
When I got to the park, the driver told me I would have to pay ₦20,000 as a delivery fee for ₦100,000. I even begged him to collect ₦15,000, but he refused.
I guess a guy nearby had been watching the interaction between me and the driver. He came up to me and asked what I wanted to deliver and the location. I don’t know why, but I trusted him immediately.
I gave him the money and my dad’s phone number. He then brought out his passport ID and told me to snap it myself and take his picture for assurance. He also took my number.
Later that evening, my dad called to confirm that he had received the money.
I called the guy to thank him properly, and we started talking every day. Eventually, he asked to come and see me, and I agreed.
Best man ever! ❤️
Y'all, my coworker accidentally took the house keys with her on a girls' night, and her husband was at work... When she realized she was so upset, after one hour he called her. He didn't yell, didn't shout...just asked her if she arrived safely and, finally, told her: "Honey, there's a problem... You took the keys with you, so now I'm at a friend's house but that's okay don't worry. Hit me up when you're free, I'll pick you up, Enjoy your night ily.".... This is why ladies you should always choose a man who's calm & gentle 🥹
I was in the grocery store today and the man in front of me… his card kept declining. He had two kids with him and they were slowly putting their items back one by one. He kept whispering, “Daddy’s trying. I’m sorry.” Then the lady behind me tapped him and said, “Put everything back in the cart. All of it. Kids shouldn’t feel their parent’s stress.” She paid the whole bill and walked off like it was nothing—no bragging, no camera, no attention. Just pure humanity. People like that still exist and they deserve every blessing coming their way.
I grew up in a polygamous home, raised with love by both my mum and step-mum. They’re amazing women and my role models . Your experience wasn’t great, and that’s valid, but don’t generalize it.
Peaceful polygamous homes exist. Mine is one of them.
I pray I marry a man who actually wants to be married. A man who isn't out here embarrassing the family we created.. I pray I marry an honest, hardworking, loving man. I pray he has morals, goals, and boundaries. even when things get tough between us he won't give up and tries >
