People who push AI in the arts have a disturbing lack of understanding of what drives real artists.

Artists don't make art so that they can create the maximum number of artworks in the shortest amount of time. Artists use art making as a slow unwinding process of realisation, learning & becoming.

The same is true for musicians, poets and novelists. They work hard within 'the flow state' in which they lose themselves, they create through a labour of love in which they sometimes achieve artistic and self-discovery.

With generative AI there is no process of discovery for the AI user - there is just the maximisation of output, based on automated generations of variable imitations.

1 million AI generated Rembrandt self-portraits churned out in a day, are worthless compared to one Rembrandt self-portrait created from a life's work.

I'm a quadriplegic who does art with my mouth. There are people who do it with their feet too. If you want cool art, hire us instead of AI. There is an artist for everyone out there and we can teach too. You just have to want to learn.
