Damulira John (aged 50) was abducted from his shop by heavily armed military personnel on 21st Nov, 2020. Six people he was taken with were dumped in the bush after extreme torture. To date, Damulira's whereabouts are unknown! The regime ignored the court order for his release.
"The Shs916b police budget devotes Shs172.6b for surveillance and acquisition of firepower to deal with civil disobedience, but spares only Shs94.4b for officers’ welfare, with only 18 of every 100 police officers able to get accommodation."

Last night a fire outbreak destroyed homes and properties of over 200 residents of Kamwokya, and left several people dead or injured. This morning I passed on a message of support to area leaders. @NUP_Ug has delivered relief to victims. We encourage other leaders to follow suit
We have been inspecting ongoing road works in Masaka City. A number of roads are going to be upgraded to tarmac this year. We commend Mayor @NamayanjaFlore1 for her efforts in trying to save public spaces from being taken over by the usual suspects. #AccountabilityAndService

This Eid al-Adha, my thoughts go to our Muslim brothers and sisters who continue to be persecuted, tortured and jailed unjustly. May Allah (SWT) keep you strong until you overcome these tribulations. As-salāmu ʿalaykum wa-raḥmatu -llāhi wa-barakātuh. Eid Mubarak!
I early this morning addressed a press conference in my capacity as the acting president of @NUP_Ug and together with fellow leaders called upon every Ugandan citizen to hold the gov't accountable regarding the management of the COVID19 situation.
It's not a favour, Its a duty.
I think our friends in @PoliceUg need to realise that we're dealing with a highly charged society. A society living in denial & desperation requires enforcement that is considerate. The enforcement of whatever guidelines needs to have a humane face. #AccountabilityAndService
On the back home this evening, I found a near riotous situation at Kyengera Market. Some overzealous young officers had arrested a number of vendors, shoppers & boda boda cyclists. According to the vendors, the arrests started at 10am, and one had to pay 80,000/= to get freed 1/2
Following our protest over the closure of @Parliament_Ug for 2 weeks when it's work is needed most, the House has been recalled.
We must be involved in the decision making process as the country battles the 2nd wave of the pandemic that has overwhelmed the health system.@NUP_Ug
Our acting Party President @JNambeshe has issued a statement on the current #COVID19 situation in the country. We hv invited the gov't to stop the arrogance of RDCs & security operatives that are harassing our people in the name of enforcing COVID guidelines.
Time and again security teams in districts headed by RDCs have used excessive and unnecessary force in the enforcement of COVID-19 lockdown regulations and curfew.
All measures and their enforcement must be carried out in full respect of human rights. @NUP_Ug@MathiasMpuuga
Earlier today, our Acting Party President Hon @JNambeshe, LOP Hon @MathiasMpuuga and other leaders addressed the nation on the poor handling of the #Covid19 pandemic by the Museveni gov't. Among the issues raised were rampant corruption & the continued misuse of public resources.
