This afternoon was also a great opportunity to reflect on our first Challenge, focussing on ‘Knowing Our Students’. We utilised @Steplab_co to give staff feedback on the implementation of Challenge 1 1/2
2/2 Over 100 staff then spent time discussing the implementation of the WalkThrus in their Challenge Groups, alongside thinking about how we use CRAFT time to give students the opportunity to respond to feedback.
I had a great time launching our second ‘Challenge’ of this year at @ArthurTerrySch with a focus on giving effective feedback to students to ensure learning moves forward. We utilised the @WALKTHRUs_5 to help give clarity of what this looks like in practice. 1/2
@teacherhead@olicav Oh absolutely. We have put each @WALKTHRUs_5 book in each Faculty Office, each facilitator has a copy and given access to the website for staff to use so that they are going past the titles and looking at how to make each technique successful.
Super excited to launch The Challenge Curriculum at @ArthurTerrySch tomorrow as part of our training day! The Challenge Curriculum intends to connect High Quality technique led CPD using @WALKTHRUs_5 , with small group Instructional Coaching and drop ins using @Steplab_co 1/3
@teacherhead@olicav Staff took part on Friday and loved it. They enjoyed using the @WALKTHRUs_5 website to explore the techniques. Conversations like "I thought I did Cold Calling really well but I am always missing out a step!" were frequent and powerful. Our TAs also took part which was great!
@teacherhead@olicav Thanks Tom! Yeah, we will be exploring the techniques over each session and we won't be able to zoom in on each one but it gives staff a framework of which ones link with our Learning Essentials. Definitely a long term plan!

At the end of each half term we have a Challenge Fortnight whereby some staff are taken off timetable to flood their departments and evaluate the effectiveness of the techniques in the classroom, utilising @Steplab_co to give small manageable steps to drive improvement! 3/3
At the start of each half term we have a 1.5 hour training slot where we ‘zoom in’ on one of our Learning Essentials and explore the techniques in this area. We then spend time in small groups using the ADAPT model and think hard about how we will put it into practice. 2/3

I am leading a Sixth Form Climate Change and Sustainability Conference at @KeeleUniversity on 28/06/24. We will have approximately 200 Yr12/13 students gathered for one day to debate, discuss and action plan. I would LOVE for you to be involved in some way!
