In Busan, South Korea, a foreign university student from Sri Lanka lost an envelope containing 1.13 million won, about 820 dollars, which she had saved for months to pay her tuition. Desperate, she went to a police station using a translation app on her phone.

More than five hours later, a woman around 60 years old arrived at the station holding the envelope she had found on the street. She decided to return it intact, without keeping the money or asking for any reward.

Upon receiving the envelope, the student broke into tears and hugged the woman while thanking her. The woman explained she only wanted to return it because someone must have been very sad to lose so much effort.

📌 Sabah and Sarawak just got their biggest slice yet under Belanjawan 2026. Here’s where the money’s going.

• Sabah’s development allocation rises to RM6.9 billion (from RM4.4 billion in 2022), while Sarawak receives RM6 billion (compared to RM2.9 billion in 2022).

• The special grant for both states will be doubled to RM600 million, from RM300 million in 2023.

• RM1.67 billion is allocated for Phase 1A of the Pan Borneo Highway Sabah. Phase 1 of the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road is expected to be completed in Nov 2026, while Phase 2 is currently underway, to be completed by mid-2029.

• Putrajaya will channel RM1.2 billion to ensure uninterrupted power supply in Sabah, despite the full handover of electricity regulation to the state last year.

• An additional RM765 million is provided for the Southern Link Transmission Line Project to ensure long-term supply continuity following the Penampang landslide in September.

• RM1 billion, allocated since 2024, is being used for water projects in Sabah, including pipe replacement works in Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, and Putatan, expected to be completed next year.

• The MADANI Seabed Cable Connection will be developed at a cost of RM2 billion to ensure digital parity between East and West Malaysia.

• RM20 million is allocated to add trading sites and upgrade basic facilities for Tamu Desa (rural markets) in Sabah and Sarawak.

📌 Belanjawan 2026: Key Healthcare Takeaways from the Budget (Pt. 1)

• The On-Call Duty Allowance will increase by 40% starting Oct 1 (e.g., from RM250 to RM350 for a specialist on a public holiday).

• Excise duties will increase on cigarettes (2 sen per stick), cigars (RM40/kg), and heated tobacco (RM20/kg) starting Nov 1.

• The excise duty on liquor will also rise by 10% from the same date.

• Import duty and sales tax exemptions for Nicotine Replacement Therapy products — including new forms such as mist and lozenges — are extended until Dec 2027.

• The fee range for General Practitioners will rise from RM10–35 to RM10–80, with the minimum rate unchanged.

• 4,500 contract doctors will be offered permanent positions in 2026, while 935 nursing graduates will also be appointed permanently.

I live in a developing nation called Malaysia. Some of you might not know where exactly it is. We’re a small country of 34 million, formed in 1963, not even 100 years old.

Maybe you’ve heard of the Petronas Twin Towers. If not, chances are you’ve probably never heard much about us at all.

We’re kind of the underdog of countries. Multilingual. Multi-cultural. Still figuring things out.

But today feels like a win for Malaysians.

While fuel prices are high around the world, here our price is RM1.99 per litre (about US$0.42). It even dropped by RM0.06 beginning today for eligible Malaysians.

For some, that may not sound like much but for millions of Malaysians, every cent matters. And it’s possible because the government subsidises fuel and because we produce oil ourselves.

This is managed under a program called BUDI95 as you can see from the screenshot. It’s a targeted subsidy scheme where eligible Malaysians receive a 300-litre quota of petrol per month at the subsidised price.

To access it, we use our national ID card (with a built-in electronic chip), which verifies our identity at the pump. The system is also integrated with cashless apps, making the whole process seamless.

(Our ID card can also be used to pay for parking, highway tolls, metro, trains etc).

So today, I can pull up to a station, use my ID card and refuel with a benefit that helps millions of Malaysians keep daily costs manageable.

I share this because:

(a) My audience comes from all around the world and no international media outlet will ever report this. 😂

(b) My point isn’t to brag, but to show how even small, developing nations can innovate and progress.

To my fellow Malaysians: congratulations on this historic day.

Sometimes, being the underdog means we quietly make things work. And that’s something worth celebrating.

Lagi 1 persoalan, hukuman telah dijatuhkan tanpa memberi sebab2 keputusan. Tambahan lagi FIFA cepat untuk mengeluarkan keputusan tersebut dalam public domain walaupun proses rayuan belum selesai. Who was in New York? Saya berharap FAM akan membuat rayuan secepat mungkin. Ini adalah surat pengesahan dari Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara. Tak kan kita takut dan nak tunduk dgn individu2 yang khuatir dengan kebangkitan Harimau Malaya. Lawan tetap lawan. Berani kerana benar.
