It’s all well and fine that he doesn’t share the views his father held… now, … I guess.

Here’s my concern. His father was part of a movement trying to change culture and did a lot of damage in the process.

Now, his son is part of a different group trying to mastermind a change in culture and the economy and pretty much everything else about how we live.

Shouldn’t he have learned that when you meddle and impose changes on complex systems it can do a lot of damage? Solving one problem is likely to create a lot of other problems in the process that might be bigger.

If he hasn’t learned this lesson he shouldn’t be given the chance to follow in his father’s footsteps, on a much bigger scale. Didn’t we learn from Trudeau 1.0 and 2.0 that the son can be much worse.

“The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree”.

They haven’t learned, but we can.

1. Why ignoring experts is smart: "You must've the confidence to override people with more credentials whose cognition is impaired by incentive-caused bias.”

2. Intensity wins: "Passion is more important than brainpower."

8. There's a strange taboo against reading. Elon Musk has said in the new Walter Isaacson book that his parents were always trying to get him to read less. Charlie Munger said his kids laugh at his reading habit, calling him a book with two legs sticking out.

9. This mockery is misplaced. Munger: "In my whole life, I have known no wise people who didn't read all the time - none, zero." Without books, travel, and aggressive independent thinking, there is no way for you to leave the intellectual context you were born in.

10. Only high-trust tribes build civilization: "The highest form that civilization can reach is a seamless web of deserved trust—not much procedure, just totally reliable people correctly trusting one another."
