In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.
The wildest part about this bit is finding out @NewWaysMinistry exists out there as LGBTQ+ advocates in the Church. I had always thought before this being trans and being Catholic are mutually exclusive, but I appreciate the work people are doing to change that.
People ask me whether you can be gay and Catholic. They say, "You can't be Catholic and do/say this." They reveal fundamental misunderstandings of Catholic theology. And they can be a source of freedom. Grateful to reflect on this with @NewWaysMinistry!

Though the Church teaches sex is immutable, they also teach that trans people are not to be barred from certain Sacraments for being transgender. The Church may still have work to do in my opinion, but nothing precludes my faith and my life, even if it is messy
Unfortunately, the winds of war are blowing once again in the Middle East, in Ukraine and in many other parts of the world, sowing violence, terror and death, and once again affecting many innocent people. Let us not allow these winds to extinguish the flame of hope and peace, even when it seems fragile and flickering.
I renew my hope that we will persevere on the path of dialogue, encounter and diplomacy. This is the only path capable of leading to a just and lasting peace, in which peoples can live in reconciliation, mutual security and respect for the dignity of every person.
