An Irishman in his sixties, suspected of having made antisemitic threats against a couple of Australian Jewish tourists in a supermarket in mid-August in Avignon, was arrested on Wednesday, AFP learned from a source close to the case.

The man was arrested in Avignon, the same source specified.

In mid-August, a video widely circulated on social media showed a man facing the camera explicitly making a death threat.
Ministers Serge Papin (Commerce and Tourism) and Aurore Bergé (Fight against discrimination) had condemned “with the greatest firmness” the “antisemitic threats” targeting a couple of Jewish tourists.

This Australian couple “was violently confronted in a supermarket in France by an Irish national” who made “serious antisemitic remarks before issuing death threats” against them, according to the joint statement from the two ministers.
“Part of this scene, filmed and widely shared on social media, testifies to a violence that is as chilling as it is unacceptable,” the two government members added.

The investigation was assigned to the Marseille research section and the Avignon research brigade.

A cleric in Iran just announced that if a woman gets to choose her own clothes, then a man gets the right to rape her.

Do not scroll past that. Read it twice.

That is not a slip of the tongue. That is not a fringe opinion from the back of a mosque. That is Kazem Rohbakhsh an official worldview of the Islamic Republic of Iran, finally spoken without the mask.

For 45 years this regime has told women they are the problem. Cover yourself, or you "tempt" men. Dress modestly, or you "deserve" what comes next. And now the punchline, straight from the cleric's mouth: If you dare to be free, then we are free to sexually assault you.

Let me be clear about something.
That is the whole ideology of the Islamic Republic of Iran in one sentence. A regime so terrified of women that it believes your only choice is a headscarf or a predator.

So here is my answer to the mullah, in simple words:

Women don’t need to cover themselves to control men’s behavior. Men need to control themselves.

A woman's body is not a bargaining chip. Our freedom is not a crime. And your "right to rape" is not a right. It is a confession. A confession that your ideology is too weak to win a single woman's heart, so you must crush her body instead.

The $25 billion figure is real. The meeting next week is real. The part that lands like a furnace door slamming is the timing and who is doing it!

Iran’s ambassador says Pezeshkian and Putin will meet next week at the SCO summit in Kyrgyzstan after a $25 billion Russian deal to build four new nuclear power plants at Sirik, Hormozgan — right on the Persian Gulf.

They signed that package last year.
They are waving it now.

Not enrichment halls.
Power plants.
That is the talking point.
Here is the truth under it:

The war started in February. Nuclear sites were hit. The IAEA is still locked out. Hundreds of kilograms of 60% enriched uranium were never accounted for. And Russia under sanctions itself is still building Bushehr and now lining up four more reactors for the same regime.

They say it is separate from any deal with Washington.
Translation: Tehran is keeping Moscow as its backup generator.
