Thinking about PSR workers out there today in the cold trying to make sure our houseless neighbors make it through the night. Will be a high priority for me to make sure PSR has the resources it needs to do its job, while making sure mgmt isn’t working against them like Rene did.
On Wednesday, November 27th, workers at all unionized New Seasons locations will engage in a one-day Unfair Labor Practice Strike.
To avert the strike, the company must meet the our demand for a wage and benefits proposal that materially improves the conditions for all workers.
@JtrTurner@plant_warlock Believe whatever you want. It’s a matter of public record where I last worked (BPA). I was a GS-14(4) or you can record request that if you don’t believe me. Doesn’t really matter in any event.
My Day 1 Agenda will be to pass a resolution instituting Yacht Rock Fridays at City Hall. We’re going to assemble a functional government that works for the people, but we’re going to listen to Hall & Oates while we do it. Council President hopefuls take heed.
Instead of spending hundreds of billions in public money to create "strategic crypto reserves" why not create strategic reserves for real resources? For example, it's absurd to let whole supply chains for, say, housing production wither away after a financial crisis. Support that
Members of @PSU_AAUP still do not have a contract due to the administration’s refusal to bargain in good faith. I’ll be at the Board of Trustees meeting tomorrow to explain the importance of investing in our educators and students.
People don’t want to vote for politicians that operate from a position of weakness. People do want to vote for politicians with a Winner’s Mindset, and that means squaring up to use power in defense of rights. That’s the whole game.
The core of my politics is that you don’t cede ground on who gets to have rights. Everything else flows from that. Rights *are* the real issues. If you can’t convince people of your politics on those terms that’s called a skill issue.
Throwing people away because the defense of their rights is viewed as a political liability just means you’ve accepted it’s ok to operate from a position of weakness. Obviously I’m talking about immigrants and trans people, but there’s always a third group in waiting.
Predicting market outcomes is hazardous, but my bet is many firms will raise prices ahead of the Trump tariffs even if there’s not a tight cost-push impact from tariffs. I’ll be looking at @IsabellaMWeber for research that shows whether my hunch is right or wrong.
Just heard Rukaiyah Adams call for us to think of housing as an industrial policy problem. That the solution is production at scale. Couldn’t agree more.

@whatnextpdx - zone for higher density throughout city (expands buildable land)
- limited design review - need to get permitting times much, much shorter.
- it may surprise folks, but I favor eliminating SDCs
- use of revolving loan funds for project finance to protect against rate risk.
