UFC 318 was important because it was a night we got to celebrate the gentlemen of the game in an era where many are trying their hardest to be anything but.
The mma media landscape never outgrew Jordan Breen, quite the contrary, it shrank, became too small and neutered by the ufc to accommodate a maverick, 'truth to power' straight shooting voice that afflicted the comfortable with unvarished truth...
Jordan's first piece for Sherdog was published on June 14, 2006. You can find it here, along with all his work over the years - https://t.co/htAzAwVwxy
I fell in love with MMA before listening to & reading Jordan. However, I began actually to understand the fabric of the sport because of Jordan. I felt this space lost something when he stepped away from MMA six or so years ago. We are now truly losing recipes...
Breaks my heart to share the news to the MMA world that Jordan Breen has passed away.
Jordan forgot more about MMA than most of us will ever remember. One of the smartest souls I ever met. His passion was truly unique.
Today would've been his birthday. Will miss you buddy. 💔
@Grabaka_Hitman He really went to bat saying that MMA Twitter was the best place to engage with the sport beyond the forum days. He shouted you out on the pod, which got me to follow you back in the day.
@TJDeSantis I think my first parasocial relationship was with that era of the SRN crew. Thousands and thousands of hours of listening to you guys. Downloading episodes into my iPod so I could listen to MMA discussion in my car. I'm really sorry, TJ.
@lthomasnews I remember being introduced to you, Luke, when you went on the JBS. I cried laughing at you guys clowning white-framed sunglasses. You said something to the effect of "If you rock those types of shades, please step in front of a moving bus."
"I was super annoyed. It's such a scummy thing to do... DC took a photo off the other guys phone to post all over socials... Is that not scummy?"
Robert Whittaker on DC posting his mouth injury after UFC 308.
Aldo is able to time most of Edgar's entries with either a jab or a straight. Edgar keeps up the activity and tries to not let Aldo rest too much but Aldo is able to control the pace of the engagements and actually starts to come forward, stealing the initiative back from Edgar.
UFC star Charles Oliveira showed his garden: fruit palms, a pond with fish, a swimming pool, a birdhouse with tropical birds.
"We made a pond, like in American mansions. Everyone knows I love parrots. One day, a man came to our house: "I need to talk to Charles. Not a photo. My brother wants to get rid of his macaws, take them!"
I say: "Buddy, I have docs for all my birds, you need docs for them" - "Yes, we have docs." So they brought me new macaws and toucans.
I never thought that I'd have such a garden. That I'd be able to just leave the house and look at the parrots, as if I were in a zoo. It's very important for me to be here, to look at the animals, to feel life."
