Two lowa teenagers, both 17 at the time of sentencing, were accused of killing their high school Spanish teacher, Nohema Graber, in 2021. Graber's body was discovered on November 3, 2021, in a Fairfield park concealed beneath a tarp, a wheelbarrow, and railroad ties. Authorities said Graber later went to a local park where she regularly walked after school.
Witnesses reported seeing her van leave the area with two people inside before it was later found abandoned along a rural road.
According to court documents, both teens expressed frustration over Graber's teaching methods and the impact her class grade had on their GPA. During police interviews, one initially denied involvement before claiming to have knowledge of the crime but insisting they did not participate. Investigators said the student instead blamed a group of masked individuals and claimed they had been forced to assist in moving the body and relocating Graber's van.
Prosecutors also cited Snapchat messages provided by a witness that allegedly showed one of the teens admitting they had acted with another person in causing Graber's death.
