This is true for all sports. You either have to be elite or have dedicated parents that give up their time and lots of money to have your kids play.
In a time when we want kids off the digital crack screen we should be investing in making extra curricular accessible again.
That's our member behind the wheel. He was pulled out of the cab and suffered shock and physical injury to his arm, back and head.
The whole city is elated about our hometown team — and that includes drivers who watched the game last night at airport lots while waiting for the next fare, listened on their radios while cruising for the next job, and huddled at hotel lines with the same heart-stopping anxiety that turned into the most beautiful joy.
Pulling the cab driver out of his seat, stomping on and shattering his hood turned our joy into a nightmare.
When you see the yellow, do you not see the person behind the wheel? That's someone's spouse, child, parent or friend — a New Yorker.
He wasn’t out there for a joy ride, he was working to make ends meet and to get his fellow New Yorkers home safely.
Cabbies pay just to go to work. They pay for their cars — whether through loans or leases.
Drivers need safety on the job, both in the quiet moments of ordinary days and in the middle of public celebration.
Shame on anyone who turns these joyful moments into nightmares for fellow New Yorkers.
I like the $10,000 per year in former car expenses that I started putting in index funds in 2001 when I permanently gave up car dependence (ask me about compounding) but I like even more reading books/napping while all the enraged drivers lose their minds on the bridge above me.
More people need to emphasize the fact that when the GOP controlled California half a century ago, they did what the Florida GOP is doing now and drastically limited property taxes, and it was a huge factor in why middle-class homeownership in California is basically dead today.
oppo research on Talarico: he is in a loving relationship with his beautiful girlfriend
oppo research on Paxton: he literally freed a pedophile and his wife divorced him on “biblical grounds”
This issue is literally young vs. old
Age-specific property tax relief is a direct attack on my children, on family formation, on young people. It cannot be tolerated.
something like 99%+ of economists agree that building market rate housing reduces rents. Connie Chan's views on housing are equivalent to believing the world is flat
vote @Scott_Wiener
Just a reminder that California could have saved literally 100 billion by passing a law that did nothing but a small exemption to bypass local governments and reviews and they couldn’t do that
That custody scene was insane, the judge passing the baby around like a truth detector and the reaction to the father said EVERYTHING.

New York State politics is funny because the Manhattan Institute is Kathy Hochul’s strongest soldier on taking a firm line with the LIRR union meanwhile actual Long Island and New York Republicans…
I am usually pro-labor but the LIRR strike is absurd
they’re already the best paid agency in the country, with average total comp of over $200K, and now they’re refusing a 4% raise?
This is a perfect example of why US transit is so inefficient!
the underlying political angle here most people aren’t covering is that the Trump administration, New York republicans, and LIRR workers themselves (who are overwhelmingly Republican) feel emboldened to strike because they think it can help the republican candidate for governor
Average voter: housing here became too expensive, we can’t afford it anymore
Economists: your city needs to build more housing to increase supply
Average voter: I don’t want more housing, I want housing to be more affordable
That’s basically the state of the discourse
Under President Trump’s “big, beautiful bill,” food stamp applicants are fighting to prove eligibility and facing questions about birthday gifts sent over Zelle. A crisis in Arizona offers a warning for America. https://t.co/PtT6LRGlVc
For context, a full service grocery store needs between 10k and 20k households as customers to survive. Building a thousand apartments on the site of a big box store means that up to 10% of the store’s entire customer base is just an elevator ride away. It’s a no brainer.
I don’t really understand the two minutes Internet hate at Warren relative to the guy who, you know, made jet fuel costs unsustainable for this business.
