#105week14nhs19@HobbsLabUNK told us today during lab that no one has this table memorized, but I’d be willing to bet that @UNKBiol106 knows these by heart by now
#106Week13NHS19@HobbsLabUNK With the cancellation of classes on Thursday, I enjoyed a much needed day of sleeping in until 2pm instead of waking up for an 8am lab. Can we have this schedule every week?
#106Week12NHS19@HobbsLabUNK Here is an article about the science behind the epigenetic cancer therapy discussed in the video we watched in lab. https://t.co/fkNqnabj1Q
#106Week12NHS19@HobbsLabUNK Today in lab, we separated the DNA from other cell components in onions. It sure smelled worse than when I separated strawberry DNA in high school!
#106Week10NHS19@HobbsLabUNK This week in lecture we’ve been talking about meiosis. Here’s a video taken in the early 1940s of a timelapse of this process! https://t.co/33TNujyl8c
#106Week10NHS19@HobbsLabUNK With the nasty weather, my bio lab for the week was cancelled. Soooo incredibly unfortunate, right? Perhaps @UNKBiol106 will follow suit and cancel tomorrow’s lecture? 🤞A girl can dream.

More cell-fies this week. As someone who shall remain unnamed in our class said, we used “telescopes” to examine the different stages of cell division, as well as healthy versus cancerous cells.

Today’s lab consisted of putting water, sugar, and yeast into a flask to measure the cellular respiration via balloons collecting CO2. Did someone bring the eggs and flour? We already have a heat source!

Apparently the bromolain enzyme found in pineapple and responsible for dissolving the gelatin is used as a dietary supplement for nasal inflammation. https://t.co/4OputBKmFn

What the gel is happening here? Just learning about enzymes by dissolving gelatin with pineapple juice. A much grosser-smelling lab than expected, but such is life.
