It has never been officially acknowledged, but it is an open secret that the UK government sends its nudge unit to grieving families after tragedies like this. Their job is to warn the family they will be held responsible for any public reaction and to push statements about unity to shield the authorities.
In Henry Nowak's case, they clearly missed his godmother. She has spoken with raw honesty about the failures that cost her godson his life. Henry's sister Olivia has likewise shared and supported calls for real accountability instead of scripted silence.
A government that uses threats to manage and muzzle a family's grief has lost all moral authority.
Having children has made me a lot more pro-choice.
Taking care of children is hard. Part of the payoff is imagining them living full lives as adults.
I don’t know how anyone could find the motivation to take care of them if they knew that wasn’t possible. That’s why only religious people don’t abort in these situations.
I find the dogmatic position that Muslims and Catholics worship the same God as defined in Lumen Gentium to be a terrible stumbling block.
Can anyone explain this position?
I'm tired of priests just making things up during mass. It's happening at my parish, the priest has added a little song to the consecration.
I'm just tired of it all. I'm tired of trying to explain it away to my wife and friends.
This is Henry Nowaks hands when the police where handcuffing him
They were pale from the complete loss of blood
This is the end they want for all of us, if this doesn’t radicalize Europe I don’t know what will
@EricRSammons Fair enough, I've just noticed that content creators seem to be missing the mark in the post-Pope Francis church. Or at least not reading the room a accurately as they could.
My wife has the unlock code for my phone. I have hers as well. We never asked for each other's codes in a moment of distrust. The information was just exchanged in our every day lives. I was in the pool one day and asked her to call someone to see when they were coming over and her phone was dead. I told her my code. I got her code in a similar fashion.
We don't share phones universally, but if a phone or tablet is on the counter and we need to use it, regardless of whose it is, we open it up and use it.
I just found out this was controversial yesterday. She texted my friend back from my phone. My friend talked to me later and was FREAKED OUT I let her have my pass code. What are people doing on their phones? It's not like she's some random girl I picked up at a club for the night.
Letting litigators, insurance peddlers, or any kind of money- lenders have any influence on Church decisions is sacrilege.
The KofC should sort this out.
I've never liked these electric candles. They take away the whole mystery, sacredness, and devotion that comes from lighting real ones.
Unfortunately, many parishes have been pressured by insurance companies to use them. A real shame.
Largely correct.
There's very definitely a "donut hole dead zone," where you make $80-150k and just straight up pay half that in taxes. You qualify for 0 poor OR rich man's programs, and the money is from a single employer or book, etc - there are no slick dodges to do.
@SRamirez68083 I remember seeing a post a while ago that said that before the internet, people like this would spend their lives fastidiously cataloguing every beetle/lichen in their village and end up getting an honorary PhD.
