@phrwn@UberFacts Oof! Same. Pulled into driveway, popped the kickstand, swung my leg over …
And immediately fell down. My legs were numb and useless. Half crawled to house and warm tub. Blood began to move through my chilled meat, hit my core and dropped body temp HARD. Shivering in hot water.
The only point of conversation she doesn’t feel in full control comes when she says: “I can see from your twitter you have a youtube channel and… 1.12 million subscribers-”
@catrakowski@practicalpersp1@musicscott I acquired dozens of cheap mic/earbud combos! All seemed useless until Zoom caught on. Now they’re perfect for video chat.
Those tiny wires wear out and break easily. But who cares? They’re like light bulbs. Use ‘em and toss ‘em.
@FishNurd @catrakowski @MissMollieAllen @KatyTurNBC Super cheap solution: regular sticky tape. Tape the wire inside your shirt lapel so it’s hidden and can’t slide. If possible, run it through a buttonhole for stability and neatness. The mic hangs a few inches from fabric and face, and won’t pick up rustling sounds.
@catrakowski@TPCarney But I’m fascinated by the prospect of beam-forming mic arrays for highly directional (but invisible) audio pickup. And I wonder if your MacBook Pro is doing something like that.
A nice trick. It would be worth a lot of money.
@catrakowski@TPCarney In addition, I use a de-verb plugin and a noise gate to reduce room echo. It’s tricky; the settings must be carefully balanced against a compressor to sound natural.
And, of course, it isn’t portable. Not at all practical for the kind of interview guests you’re describing.
NEW: Arizona’s state-operated #COVID19 vaccination sites in Maricopa, Pima and Yuma Counties will be open to all Arizonans 16 and older beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, March 24. @AZDHS 1/
MAIL! I LOVE ya! I guess I haven’t said it enough and, gosh, you must think I’m taking you for granted. But … that’s only because you’re so GOOD at what you do! I’m sorry. You’re the best. Always have been. Thanks for all the ballots.
Oh, 2020, you are full of surprises. I never guessed I would have to stand up to defend … the post office. (Note: I am also in favor of the Weather Service. And the people who put buoys over submerged rocks, they’re cool.)
JARTS. I built a sling and launched one of these babies across a yard, across a street and — *THUNK* — 2 inches into the second story wall of my house.
