@mrmikeMTL I can get a stupidly large flat-screen television for much less than a 32" TV would have been 15 years ago. Telephones have more features at a lower price. There really isn't such a thing as long distance charges. My low-cost desktop has memory that laughs at 15 years ago.

@ztisdale I think that CAN would do better as a protected territory. You wouldn't be able to vote in Federal elections; however, you would be self governing with citizenship, free travel in the US, and (grin) no tariffs. You would have time to decide if you wanted to be independent.
