It also servers to further control ELAR teachers. If the works, especially secondary, are set, scripted curriculum is easier to create & require as supports (?). It also serves as impetus to focus on the required works for ELAR teaching courses in our state colleges.

Proponents laud the list's creation of shared literary knowledge, rigor, & extensive process. However, it ignores the realities of the diversity of Texas's 5.5 mil students & expects that this will improve reading skills & interest.
