@MinersLacrosse were the first team since the 1988 Fergus Thistles to win three straight Presidents Cups (2016, 2017, 2018). Tomorrow they will try to prevent the @LadnerPioneers from taking some of the lustre off of that run as they try to accomplish the same feat @PresCupLax
@SBrooks_77@fnveenie You're right, and I'm glad he verbalized this. But why do we know this well before it happens and they only seem to realize after the fact. They are the ones on the ice, common sense and awareness shouldn't be so lacking. Comes back to the same point, zero urgency all yr
What a run brother. Growing up, I always told you the Habs would be the team to draft you if you made the show. Fourteen damn seasons is a lifetime in the NHL and you overcame so many odds along the way. What a run. All the best on your next stop @BGALLY17.
My father is 87 years old. He has survived cancer several times. Prostate cancer, bladder cancer, skin cancer. He has had radiation and chemo. He has had tumors removed. He has had several big surgeries. He’s had it all. Add to that he has diabetes and on 3 occasions came very close to going into a diabetic coma. For many years now, my father sleeps day and night because he has no energy to stay awake and because he’s in too much pain.
This season, he watched some Montreal Canadiens games. He loved what he saw. He loved the team. He loved the staff. In the playoffs, my father watched every Habs playoff game. And, he celebrated every win. The Montreal Canadiens gave my father energy, they made him happy, they made him forget about his health and his pain. This is the power of the Habs.
Thank you @canadiensMTL 🔴⚪️🔵
@P__Airoldi My biggest problem with this version of the team was the coaching and passive and flat nature that resulted from that. No adjustments made and would always sit back with the lead
@robpizzola@HabsLinks Two series that they should have won in six and in five. The Buffalo game 7 was a classic case of a team sitting back in the back half with a multiple goal lead and a team chasing. God this narrative is obnoxious
@TopDownHockey I believe it. I just can't stand the witch hunt that the trolls and jealous "fans" go on with this team. It's a strange phenomena. Nothing quite like it in sports
Every time MTL wins a series it's "luck" yet as this graph shows, they literally had the most dominant series win in the last fifteen years across the league until tonight.
I swear to God people don't understand this sport or what they are watching
That said awful end to the yr
We are tentatively* announcing that the Carolina Hurricanes just won the most lopsided playoff series of all time by 5-on-5 score-adjusted xGF%.
Not only did they defeat today's Montreal Canadiens to set the record, but it appears they've dethroned the 20-21 Canadiens.
Poetic.
@DidierDarin@PierreVLeBrun This is factually incorrect. Were better before G7 in both series before. Let's stop with the garbage revisionist history.
Obviously ran out of gas and hit a wall in the ECF, end of story
Recency bias will fuel some awful takes about how the Habs “didn’t deserve” to be in the Conference Finals.
The reality is they’re the youngest team in the NHL and shattered preseason expectations on their way to 106 points. They went toe-to-toe with the best team in the East in Round 1 and won, then did it again in Round 2.
Their reward for coming out of the Atlantic Division gauntlet in 14 gruelling games (+5 OTs) was a Canes team that needed just 8 games to beat two borderline playoff teams on their way to the ECF. The Habs were still two overtime losses away from leading the series through three games before eventually hitting a wall. They completely ran out of gas and the Canes stepped on their throats.
They got steamrolled in the end, but anyone saying they didn’t deserve to be there is lying to you and themselves. Tough end to a fun run, but a great experience for a young group that’s arrived ahead of schedule and showed us why the future should be incredibly exciting.
I wish I had more faith in this coaching staff, because I'd be willing to jump on MTL here. But no adjustments at all and the same poor decisions. Hopefully they at least fight in G5 @t2j7p@fnveenie@alexjmoretto
Everyone in the world has Carolina running over Montreal. I've never seen something this unanimous in pro sports. MTL has been so flat and lifeless these last few games & ppl love to hate them so no surprise. But whenever it's this unanimous it usually doesn't work that way 1/2
@RahilTheThrill People think they get paid by the word to disrespect the Montreal Canadiens. Never seen anything like it and it's been like that my whole life. At least since I was aware enough (say 2000 on)
@EricEngels This is ridiculous, team is way too passive and flat yet they continually sit a guy who isn't. Wanna talk speed? There are a couple others playing far slower. This is a team that tries to make everything look aesthetically pleasing, need guys at the net & shots. Makes zero sense
@danmarshall77@Tmenlax@Salmonbellies Any idea if Sheridan, Bowman etc will be in the lineup for Nanaimo tonight? They seemed to be missing guys in the opener in Langley last week
