@CICounselling@stonewalluk It is shame this hasn't been made clear from the start. Better late than never though. It's a scary thing to think exploring could be deemed as conversion which has worried quite a few therapists.
@lunarcounsell It is an expensive business. My maintenance loans had to cover those added expenses otherwise I couldn't have studied. The upside to being low income!! If you can't get maintenance loans for college it might be worth looking at university??
@jamesldowns I do wish some professionals and services would leave mindfulness training/interventions to the experts fully trained in it. I'm sure it gets misinterpret and condensed in the wrong hands.
To the former patients who apologise for getting in touch βyou probably donβt remember meβ β¦ as clinicians, we absolutely do remember you, still think about you, and you have no idea the boost it gives us to hear the exciting things you go on to do! π₯°
@ScrimshawsFire @AlsJane_therapy @BACP The point is, if a complaint is made an mb cannot force anyone to stop working so it's a pointless framework. Therefore, people can freely work without being a member. I disagree that it means being unethical. Unethical would be working without training and qualifications imv.
@suefreelance@SallyMi83941850 As a former smoker I agree. I could afford my cigs when I wanted them so I could afford my cessation aids! Always refused any prescriptions offered to me. Still a vaper though and much cheaper than smoking.
@ScrimshawsFire @AlsJane_therapy @BACP I wasn't advocating, I was staying facts. I wouldn't judge anyone either as we do have freedom of choice. Not being a member of an mb does not necessarily mean working unethically.
@AlsJane_therapy @BACP Is it maybe because you couldn't do the practical hours of client work? Is there no way you could do a top up course that encompasses this? Your course should have made it clear it didn't meet the criteria for you to become a member. So sorry .
@AlsJane_therapy @BACP You don't have to register with any membership body if you're working privately so it might not be as bad as you think. Good luck.
@DrJessTaylor Why can't they? There's absolutely nothing wrong in saying that but I wonder if it really is true for so many women? I often say to my kids I wish I'd done things differently but I certainly wouldn't want to be without them.
@Treasa_Foley@Therapists_C People always misunderstand my surname when I say it. My mr finds it funny when I automatically spell it straight after saying it. I don't even notice that anymore, it's just habit and it doesn't bother me. It's saves the other any embarrassment of having to ask me.
@doctor_chuks My understanding is medical=patient, non medical psychological support (therapy/counselling)=client and non medical/non counselling services = service user. I believe the latter came about because people using the services didn't want to be referred to as patients or clients.
